Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Ingenico MOBY8500 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (EU383450P)
This is a 3.7V, 650mAh Li-Polymer battery for the Ingenico MOBY8500 mobile payment terminal. It replaces OEM part EU383450P and restores wireless operation for card-present transactions in retail and hospitality settings. Capacity is 2.41Wh — identical to the original cell specification.
- MOBY8500 fit confirmation: The MOBY8500 uses a flat Li-Polymer cell at 3.7V nominal with a specific connector and BMS handshake. This replacement matches the OEM footprint at 52.00 × 33.60 × 3.80mm and communicates correctly with the terminal's charge controller so the fuel gauge reports accurately.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the MOBY8500's full charge-discharge loop and confirmed the BMS accepted the new cell without overcurrent trips or error flags on the terminal's status screen.
- First-deploy cycle tip: After fitting this battery, run one complete transaction — from power-on through card read and receipt print — before putting the terminal into live service. The MOBY8500 maps battery capacity during normal operation and needs at least one full power cycle to report the charge indicator correctly.
Payment terminal rebooting mid-transaction after battery swap
A fresh Li-Polymer cell has higher internal impedance until it completes its first few charge-discharge cycles. On the MOBY8500, the combined current draw from the receipt printer motor and the contactless radio during a tap transaction can spike briefly above what the BMS expects from an unconditioned cell. If the BMS reads that spike as an overcurrent event, it cuts power and the terminal reboots. Running two or three low-load transactions first — chip-and-PIN without printing — conditions the cell and lowers impedance enough to handle the full combined draw cleanly.
Terminal not completing PCI boot sequence on new battery
The MOBY8500 runs a security integrity check during boot that requires stable voltage throughout. If the new cell shipped at low state-of-charge, voltage can sag below the boot threshold partway through the PCI sequence and the terminal stalls or shows a blank screen. Connect the terminal to its charging cable before pressing power — wait until the charge LED is solid, not blinking, then boot. The cell needs to reach at least 3.85V before the boot sequence will complete without interruption.

Frequently Asked Questions
My MOBY8500 shows 99% battery and won't move off that reading after charging the new battery overnight — is the gauge broken?
The charge IC on the MOBY8500 enters a top-off mode when it first sees a new cell, holding at 99% until it completes a slow trickle phase that can take several hours beyond the main charge cycle. This is normal behaviour with a fresh Li-Polymer cell and not a gauge fault. Disconnect from charge, run the terminal through a full transaction cycle, then reconnect — the fuel gauge recalibrates once it has seen one complete discharge-charge loop. After that first cycle, the percentage will track normally.
The MOBY8500 was sitting unused in a drawer for a few months and now won't power on at all — did the battery die?
Li-Polymer cells self-discharge at roughly 2–3% per month, so a terminal stored for several months can arrive with a cell below the BMS recovery threshold — typically under 3.0V — at which point the BMS locks out to prevent unsafe charging. Connect the terminal to its OEM charger and leave it for 30–45 minutes without pressing the power button; many chargers apply a low-current recovery charge below 3.0V before switching to normal charge rate. If the charge LED comes on within that window, the cell is recovering. If nothing happens after an hour, the original cell is likely fully dead and this replacement battery will resolve it.
The MOBY8500 gets noticeably warm during a busy service period — is that a battery problem or a terminal problem?
During high-transaction periods the MOBY8500 runs its display, contactless radio, and receipt printer simultaneously, and that combined draw generates heat across the entire board — not just the battery. A warm case during heavy use is normal. If the terminal gets hot enough to trigger a thermal warning on screen, or if it shuts down mid-session, check that the terminal is not stored in a case or pocket between transactions, as trapped heat accelerates cell temperature. Let the terminal sit open on a counter between sales; if shutdowns continue, check that the battery contacts are clean and making full contact with the cell's terminals.
