Fits Safescan 135i, 145ix, 155i, 165i counterfeit detector; replaces OEM LB-105 and 112-0410 battery packs.
10.8V, 700mAh lithium-ion cell delivers 7.56Wh to power UV and magnetic detection circuitry continuously.
Battery slides into vertical slot below main circuit board; connector tab locks downward with single metal clip.
Bench testing showed clean BMS handshake on first insertion; device accepted charge within two minutes of power-up.
After installation, run one complete transaction cycle before deploying in production — the device calibrates charge indicators during normal operation and needs one full boot to map capacity correctly.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Safescan 135i / 165i Series — 10.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (LB-105)

This is a 10.8V, 700mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Safescan 135i and compatible portable banknote detectors. It restores power to the UV, magnetic, and infrared detection circuits that the device relies on for currency verification. Fits the 135i, 145ix, 155i, and 165i among other models in the same series.

  • 135i / 145ix / 155i / 165i compatibility: These models share the same 10.8V three-cell Li-ion configuration, identical connector pinout, and the same BMS handshake protocol — so one battery part number covers the full range without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through the detection sequence — UV lamp trigger, magnetic head activation, and display draw — and confirmed the BMS held voltage within the expected window across all three loads simultaneously.
  • First-use calibration on the 135i: Run the unit through at least one complete power-on and detection cycle before relying on the charge indicator. The 135i maps battery capacity during normal operation, and the charge gauge will read inaccurately until the device completes that first calibration pass.

Why the UV lamp causes a voltage dip on startup

The UV lamp in the 135i draws a short inrush current each time it fires. On a depleted or degraded cell, this spike can push the BMS into temporary overcurrent protection, cutting power to the detection head mid-scan. The LB-105's cell is rated to handle this inrush without tripping, but the protection circuit still needs a charged cell — starting a scan with the battery below 10.0V increases the risk of a mid-scan cutout. Charge fully before a heavy verification session.

Charge indicator stuck at 99% after fitting a new battery

This happens because the charge IC enters top-off mode on a new cell — it trickles current in and holds the displayed percentage just below 100% while it balances the cells. It is not a fault with the battery or the unit. The indicator will clear to 100% once the top-off phase completes, typically after the unit has been on charge undisturbed. No action is needed beyond leaving the device plugged in.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Safescan 135i shuts off mid-scan every time I put a note under the UV lamp — is the new battery faulty?

The UV lamp pulls a short inrush current each time it activates, and if the battery cell voltage is below roughly 10.0V when the scan starts, the BMS trips into overcurrent protection and cuts power. This is a protection response, not a defective cell. Charge the battery to full before running detection, and the shutdowns should stop. If the issue continues on a full charge, check that the battery connector is fully seated.

The 135i won't power on at all after sitting unused in a drawer for several months — is the battery dead?

Extended storage without a charge cycle causes the cell to self-discharge below the BMS recovery threshold, typically under 9.0V, at which point the protection circuit locks out and the device shows no response. Connect the unit to its charger and leave it for at least 30 minutes — most Li-ion chargers include a trickle pre-charge stage that can recover a cell from this state. If the charge indicator shows no activity after 45 minutes, the cell has likely discharged past the point of recovery and will need replacement.

The battery percentage on my 135i jumps around erratically during use — it drops fast, then suddenly reads higher again.

This is a capacity mapping issue — the 135i calibrates its fuel gauge by tracking charge and discharge curves over real use cycles, and a new or long-stored battery has no stored curve data to reference. The percentage reading will stabilise after two or three complete discharge-and-charge cycles under normal detection use. Do not interrupt those early cycles by topping up mid-session; let the battery run down to the low-battery warning, then charge uninterrupted to full.
