Fits TOPCARD PMR100 payment terminal; replaces OEM battery MGH00236.
4.8V, 1000mAh Ni-MH cell powers wireless card transactions without interruption.
Connector type confirmed on PMR100 slot; locking tab seats flush against terminal housing.
Bench test showed stable voltage under transaction load; BMS accepted charge cycle without fault codes.
On first deployment, run one complete transaction cycle before live checkout use — terminal calibrates battery capacity during normal operation and requires a full boot-charge cycle to update the charge indicator.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

TOPCARD PMR100 — 4.8V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (MGH00236)

This is a 4.8V, 1000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the TOPCARD PMR100 portable payment terminal. It replaces OEM part MGH00236. When the original cell loses capacity or fails outright, this unit restores wireless operation so the terminal can process card transactions without being tethered to a power source.

  • PMR100 platform fit: The PMR100 uses a 4.8V Ni-MH pack because that voltage rail matches the terminal's combined logic, wireless radio, and thermal printer draw. The connector and cell count are specific to this housing — other voltage configurations will not seat or communicate correctly with the charge circuit.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through full boot sequences and simulated transaction loads. The BMS held stable across the printer motor draw spike — the most common trigger for overcurrent trips on this platform.
  • First-deployment cycle: After installing this battery, complete one full transaction cycle — including a printed receipt — before putting the terminal into live service. The PMR100 maps pack capacity during normal operation, and the charge indicator will not read correctly until at least one complete power cycle has finished.

PMR100 rebooting mid-transaction after battery swap

The receipt printer motor draws a short, sharp current spike the moment it fires. On a new Ni-MH cell that has not been through a conditioning cycle, that spike can push the BMS into a momentary overcurrent trip, which the terminal reads as a power fault and responds to with a reboot. The fix is to run two or three full transaction cycles — including printed receipts — before deployment. After conditioning, the cell's internal resistance drops enough that the printer spike stays within the BMS's trip threshold.

PMR100 not powering on after sitting unused in a drawer

Ni-MH cells self-discharge at roughly 1–3% per day at room temperature. A terminal stored for several months can have a pack voltage well below the PMR100's minimum boot threshold — sometimes under 4.0V — and the device will not respond to the power button at all. Connect the terminal to its dock or charger and leave it for 30–60 minutes before attempting to power on. If the charge LED does not activate, check that dock voltage is present at the pins; a corroded dock contact is the second most common cause of this symptom.

Frequently Asked Questions

My PMR100 shows 99% battery for the first hour after a full charge — is the new battery faulty?

It is not faulty. When a new Ni-MH cell is installed, the terminal's charge IC enters top-off mode and holds the indicator near full while it trickle-charges the cell to its true capacity ceiling. The display catches up once the terminal has completed one full discharge-and-charge cycle. Run the device through normal transactions and let it charge overnight — the indicator will begin tracking accurately after that first full cycle.

The terminal completes the boot animation then shuts off before reaching the PIN pad screen — what is happening?

This is a PCI boot sequence failure caused by the BMS not yet being accepted by the terminal's power management handshake. The terminal draws a larger current burst during the security module initialisation phase than during idle, and a new cell that has not been cycled can sag enough at that moment to trigger a low-voltage cutoff. Charge the battery to full without interrupting, then power on and allow the complete boot sequence to run without pressing any keys. One uninterrupted boot-charge cycle is usually enough for the handshake to stabilise.

The PMR100 gets noticeably warm during a busy period — is that a battery problem?

Warmth during heavy use is a thermal load issue, not a battery defect. The combined draw of the wireless radio, display backlight, and printer motor during a run of back-to-back transactions generates heat that the PMR100's compact housing cannot dissipate quickly. The Ni-MH cell also contributes a small amount of heat during high-rate discharge. As long as the terminal is warm — not hot to the touch — and continues operating normally, no action is needed. If the device shuts down from heat, allow it to cool for five minutes before restarting and check that the ventilation slots on the housing are not blocked.
