Fits Way Systems MTT 1510, MTT 1556, MTT 1581, MTT 1531 mobile payment terminals; replaces OEM part BASIC56.
3.7V 850mAh Li-ion cell delivers 3.15Wh; sustains contactless and chip transaction processing without mid-swipe shutdowns.
Connector slides onto terminal contact pins with no locking tab; orientation marked on housing; seat firmly until flush.
We bench-tested this cell in an MTT 1510 simulator; BMS accepted full charge cycle in under two hours with clean handshake.
After installation, complete one full transaction cycle before deploying in live environment — terminal maps battery capacity during operation and requires at least one complete power cycle to calibrate the charge indicator correctly.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Way Systems MTT 1510 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BASIC56)

This 3.7V 850mAh Li-ion battery replaces the OEM BASIC56 cell in Way Systems MTT 1510, MTT 1556, MTT 1581, and MTT 1531 mobile payment terminals. It restores power to terminals that no longer hold a charge or fail to start. Dimensions are 50.65 × 37.25 × 7.30mm — an exact physical match for the original slot.

  • MTT 1510, 1531, 1556, 1581 compatibility: These terminals share the same battery bay dimensions, 3.7V nominal rail, and BASIC56 connector pinout. The BMS handshake protocol is identical across the series, so one cell works across all listed models without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on the MTT 1510. The BMS accepted the cell cleanly, voltage held stable at 3.7V nominal under combined wireless, display, and card-read load, and protection circuits tripped correctly at the expected cutoff threshold.
  • First-boot calibration step: After installation, complete one full transaction cycle before deploying in a live environment. The terminal maps battery capacity during normal operation and needs at least one complete power cycle to calibrate the charge indicator correctly.

Terminal not completing PCI boot sequence after battery swap

The MTT 1510 runs a PCI security check on every cold boot. A new cell sometimes causes the terminal to stall mid-sequence because the BMS handshake hasn't been accepted yet. This is not a fault with the battery — it's the terminal confirming the power source is stable before loading the secure payment kernel. Charge the battery to at least 3.9V, then power the terminal on and allow the full boot sequence to complete without interruption.

Device not powering on after sitting unused in a drawer

Li-ion cells self-discharge roughly 2–3% per month. A terminal stored for several months can drop the cell below the BMS recovery threshold — typically around 2.5V — causing the terminal to show no response at all. Connect the terminal to the charger and leave it for 30–45 minutes before attempting to power on. If the charge indicator lights, the BMS has recovered the cell and normal charging will resume from that point.

Frequently Asked Questions

My MTT 1510 reboots right as the receipt prints — is the battery causing this?

Yes. The thermal printer pulls a short, sharp current spike at the start of each print job. If the cell voltage sags under that load, the BMS interprets it as an overcurrent event and cuts power to protect the circuit — which the terminal experiences as a reboot. A fresh, fully charged BASIC56 cell holds voltage more firmly under that spike. Charge the new battery fully before the first live transaction.

The charge indicator on my MTT 1510 is stuck at 99% and won't move — is the battery faulty?

It's not faulty. When a new Li-ion cell first charges, the charge IC enters a top-off mode that holds the indicator near full while it balances the cell. This typically lasts one to two full charge cycles. After the terminal completes two full charge-and-use cycles, the fuel gauge recalibrates and the indicator will track normally again.

The terminal gets noticeably warm during a long shift with heavy transaction volume — is that a battery issue?

Heat during heavy use is a combined load effect, not a battery defect. The MTT 1510 runs the display, wireless radio, card reader, and printer simultaneously during busy periods, and all of that draw generates heat at the cell. As long as the terminal doesn't shut down or display a temperature warning, this is within normal operating range. If the terminal does cut out, let it cool for five minutes and check that the battery contacts are clean and seated fully.
