Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

AudioVox Thera / Maestro PDA1032S — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (LAB544060C)

This 3.7V 1200mAh Li-Polymer cell replaces the original LAB544060C battery in the AudioVox Thera Pocket PC, Maestro PDA1032S, and PDA-1032. It restores power to the handheld so the device can run its operating system, manage contacts and schedules, and maintain active application state. Capacity is 1200mAh (4.44Wh) — matched to the original OEM specification.

  • Thera, Maestro PDA1032S, and PDA-1032 compatibility: All three models share the same battery bay dimensions, 3.7V nominal rail, and connector pinout. The BMS handshake protocol is identical across this platform, so one cell covers the full range without any modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the Thera platform and confirmed the BMS accepted the cell without fault codes. Charge termination triggered cleanly at full voltage with no thermal events.
  • Sync before you swap: The Thera stores open files and application state in volatile RAM powered directly by the main battery. Remove the cell without first syncing to a host computer and that data is gone. Complete an ActiveSync or cradle sync before pulling the battery — every time.

Why the Thera Pocket PC loses data after a battery swap

The Thera runs its OS and holds open application data in SRAM, which requires continuous voltage from the main battery to retain its contents. Unlike flash storage, SRAM does not persist through a power cut — even a brief interruption clears it. Some units include a small backup capacitor that extends this window by a few seconds, but it is not enough to survive a full battery removal. Sync all data to a host PC before removing the cell, then reinstall the charged replacement without delay.

Thera not booting after new battery installed

A freshly shipped Li-Polymer cell may arrive below the minimum voltage the Thera's boot sequence requires to initialise the processor and load the OS. If the device shows nothing on screen or hangs at the boot logo, low cell voltage is the first thing to rule out. Place the unit in its cradle or connect the AC adapter and charge for at least 30 minutes before attempting to power on. If the device still does not boot after a full charge cycle, check that the battery connector is fully seated — the Thera's contact rail is shallow and partial contact prevents voltage delivery.

Frequently Asked Questions

My AudioVox Thera wiped all my contacts and calendar after I swapped the battery — is the new cell faulty?

The cell is not at fault. The Thera holds contacts, calendar entries, and open app state in volatile SRAM, which clears the moment main battery voltage drops to zero. No backup cell or capacitor in these units holds charge long enough to survive a full swap. Before removing the battery next time, run a full ActiveSync session to your host PC so all data is written to non-volatile storage on the connected computer.

The Thera's wireless sync keeps dropping after I installed the replacement battery — what's causing it?

The built-in radio on the Thera draws a significant current spike when it initialises a sync session, and if the cell is not at full charge, voltage sags enough to destabilise the radio connection. This is not a fault with the replacement cell — it is a voltage sensitivity issue with the wireless module. Charge the battery fully before attempting any wireless sync. If drops continue at full charge, check that the battery connector is fully seated, as partial contact increases internal resistance and worsens voltage sag under radio load.

The new battery drains much faster than I expected when I use the Thera for scanning and data entry — why?

Active use on a PDA — screen at full brightness, stylus input, and any active wireless radio — draws several times more current than standby. The 1200mAh rating reflects capacity under a steady low-drain test load, not under mixed active use with the display and radio on simultaneously. There is no fault here; this is normal behaviour for this battery class and device. To extend time between charges, dim the backlight to the lowest usable level and disable wireless when not actively syncing.
