Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Mitac Mio 339 / 339BT — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BP8CULXBIAP1)

This 3.7V, 2400mAh Li-ion cell replaces the original battery in the Mitac Mio 339 and Mio 339BT portable GPS navigation devices. Both models use the same battery footprint and connector, sharing OEM part numbers BP8CULXBIAP1 and PVIT3800011. If your Mio 339 no longer holds a charge or powers off mid-route, this is the direct cell replacement.

  • Mio 339 and 339BT compatibility: Both variants run the same 3.7V power rail and use an identical connector and BMS handshake. One cell covers both units — no firmware or hardware differences affect fitment between the standard and Bluetooth-equipped version.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the Mio 339 platform. The BMS accepted the cell without fault codes, held a stable voltage curve across the full discharge, and tripped the low-voltage cutoff cleanly at the expected threshold.
  • RAM data before battery removal: The Mio 339 stores active navigation data and recent route history in RAM powered directly by the main battery. Remove the cell without saving, and that data is gone. Export your routes to the SD card or connect to your PC for a full sync before pulling the battery.

Why the Mio 339 won't boot after a battery swap

The Mio 339 boot sequence requires the cell to clear a minimum voltage threshold before the device will attempt to load the OS. A brand-new cell ships at partial charge — sometimes below that threshold. If the unit shows nothing on screen or displays a battery warning immediately after installation, it has not failed. Charge the device via USB or the mains adapter for at least 30 minutes before pressing the power button.

Mio 339 dropping GPS signal or freezing mid-route

The GPS receiver and display backlight together draw significantly more current than standby, and a degraded or partially discharged cell can sag below the stable operating voltage under that combined load. This causes the device to freeze, reboot, or lose satellite lock mid-navigation. The symptom appears most often in hot vehicles where heat accelerates voltage sag. Charge fully to 4.2V before a long drive and check that the charge port is clean and making solid contact.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Mio 339 lost all my saved routes and settings after I swapped the battery — is that normal?

Yes, and it happens because the Mio 339 holds open application data in SRAM, which is powered directly by the main battery. The moment the cell is removed, that RAM loses power and everything not written to the SD card or internal flash is gone. Before any future battery swap, go into the device menu and save or export your routes, then sync to your PC. That gets the data off the volatile RAM and onto storage that survives a power cut.

My Mio 339 screen stays blank even after fitting the new battery — what's wrong?

New Li-ion cells ship at a storage charge, which is often too low to clear the Mio 339's boot voltage threshold. The device will not attempt to start the OS if the cell reads below roughly 3.4V. Connect the Mio 339 to its charger immediately after fitting the new cell and leave it for at least 30 minutes before pressing power. If the charge LED lights up, the cell is seated correctly and the device just needs voltage before it will boot.

The Mio 339BT's Bluetooth sync keeps dropping after the battery replacement — what causes that?

The Bluetooth radio in the 339BT is voltage-sensitive and will throttle or drop its connection when the cell is not at a sufficient charge level. We saw this behaviour on the bench when testing at partial charge states — the radio would connect briefly then lose the pairing. Charge the unit fully before attempting a sync, then confirm the battery contacts inside the compartment are clean and flat against the cell terminals. A full charge to 4.2V resolves the issue in most cases.
