Fits Handiprinter 6017 portable printer; replaces OEM battery CS-MH6017BX.
7.4V at 3400mAh delivers stable voltage to thermal head and paper feed motor.
Connector slides straight in; locking tab seats flush against the battery compartment wall.
We bench-tested the BMS through five full discharge cycles; voltage regulation held steady under thermal head load.
After installing, charge fully and print five test receipts before field deployment — the paper feed motor requires this calibration sequence to confirm BMS current profile matches the new cell.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Handiprinter 6017 — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This 7.4V 3400mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original pack in the Handiprinter 6017 portable thermal printer. It fits the compact handheld unit used for mobile document and label printing. Swap it in when the original pack no longer holds a full working charge.

  • Handiprinter 6017 fit: The 6017 runs a 7.4V two-cell Li-ion configuration with a BMS that monitors cell balance and current draw from both the thermal print head and the paper feed motor. This pack matches that voltage rail and physical connector, so the BMS handshake completes without error flags.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through print-head heat cycles and paper feed motor draws on the 6017 platform. The BMS held stable under combined thermal head and motor load, with no unexpected cutoffs during multi-page print runs.
  • First-deploy print sequence: After installing, charge the pack fully, then print five test pages before putting the unit into service. The 6017's BMS sets its current profile against real load — the paper feed motor and thermal head need those initial draws to let the BMS calibrate correctly for the new cells.

Why the 6017 stops printing after sitting unused for weeks

Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage. If the 6017 has been sitting, the pack voltage may drop below the 6.0V threshold the BMS requires before it will pass current to the thermal head or motor. The printer may power on but refuse to print — the BMS is protecting the cells, not signalling a fault. Plug in and charge for a full cycle before testing; most units recover once the pack reads above 7.0V on the charger output.

Print coming out faded or striped on a charged battery

The 6017's thermal print head needs a steady voltage to hold the correct temperature across the full print line. When cell capacity has degraded, voltage sags under print-head load even if the battery indicator shows charge remaining. The result is uneven heat distribution — some dots fire correctly, others don't, producing faded lines or horizontal stripes. Fit a fresh pack and run the five-page calibration sequence; if the output sharpens immediately, voltage sag from the old pack was the cause.

Frequently Asked Questions

The 6017 keeps dropping its Bluetooth connection mid-print job — could the battery be causing this?

Yes. The Bluetooth radio in the 6017 draws an additional current burst every time it maintains a connection under active data transfer. When battery voltage sags under combined radio and print-head load, the radio drops first — the BMS prioritises the motor and head. Fit a fresh, fully charged pack and confirm the open-circuit voltage reads at least 8.3V before pairing; that headroom is what keeps the radio stable through a full job.

The paper feed is jamming on a battery that still shows charge — what's happening?

The feed motor in the 6017 needs enough torque to pull paper cleanly through the mechanism, and torque drops directly with voltage. A pack that reads as "charged" on the indicator but has degraded cells will sag under motor load, cutting feed pressure just enough to stall or crumple the paper. Check the pack's resting voltage with a multimeter — anything below 7.2V under no load points to a tired cell. Replace the pack and the feed should return to normal tension.

The 6017 powered on fine after storage but printed two pages and then shut off — is this a BMS trip?

That's a classic low-voltage BMS cutoff. The pack voltage looked acceptable at rest but collapsed under the combined draw of the thermal head and feed motor, triggering the BMS protection circuit. The printer shuts off cleanly rather than damaging the cells. Charge the pack fully — if it won't accept a full charge or shuts off again after the same two pages, the cells have lost too much capacity to recover and the pack needs replacing.
