Sato MB200 / MP350 Series — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (PT/MB200-BAT)
This is a 7.4V, 2600mAh Li-ion battery that replaces the OEM PT/MB200-BAT pack. It fits the Sato MB200, MB200i, MP350, and S1500 portable thermal printers. These are handheld mobile printers used in retail, logistics, and field service for on-demand label and receipt printing.
- MB200 / MP350 / S1500 platform fit: These models share the same 7.4V power rail, connector format, and BMS handshake protocol — which is why one pack spans all of them. Swapping between models does not require firmware changes or a separate conditioning step.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through the MB200's print cycle under full thermal head load. The BMS held voltage within range across multiple consecutive label jobs without tripping the low-voltage cutoff or throttling head temperature.
- First-deploy print sequence: After installing, charge the pack fully, then print five test labels before putting the unit into active service. Why the MB200 goes silent after sitting unused for several weeks
Li-ion cells self-discharge at roughly 2–3% per month under normal storage conditions. If an MB200 sits in a drawer or dispatch bag for an extended period, the pack can drop below the BMS minimum wake voltage — typically around 6.0V for a 7.4V pack. When this happens, the printer appears completely dead on power button press; it is not a hardware fault. Place the unit on charge for at least 90 minutes before attempting to power on, which allows the BMS to detect sufficient cell voltage and re-enable the discharge circuit.
Paper feed stopping mid-roll or jamming on the first sheet
The MB200's paper feed motor draws a short torque spike each time it advances the roll. At low battery charge, terminal voltage sags during that spike and the motor stalls before completing the feed stroke — the printer interprets this as a jam. This is not a mechanical fault with the feed mechanism. Charge the pack to at least 7.2V before loading paper, and the feed motor will have enough torque headroom to advance cleanly through the first sheet and across a full roll.

Yes. The MB200's radio module shares the same power rail as the thermal head. When the battery charge falls below roughly 7.0V, voltage fluctuates during a print cycle and the radio drops its link to compensate for the sudden current demand. Recharge the pack and confirm the unit shows at least 7.2V on the battery status screen before starting a job that requires a sustained wireless connection.
After replacing the battery, the MB200 still shows a low-battery warning almost immediately — what did I miss?
The most common cause is skipping the initial conditioning print sequence.
