Fits Way Systems WAY-S and MTT 1510 portable printers; replaces OEM part WAY-S.
7.4V, 1200mAh lithium-ion delivers stable voltage for consistent thermal print quality throughout charge cycles.
Connector seats flush into the battery slot with positive terminal forward; locking tab engages with slight downward pressure.
We bench tested this cell in the MTT 1510 — BMS accepted the handshake on insertion, no fault codes, output steady under print head load.
After installing, charge fully and print five test receipts before field deployment — the thermal head requires a calibration print sequence to confirm BMS current profile matches motor draw specifications.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Way Systems MTT 1510 — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (WAY-S)

This 7.4V, 1200mAh Li-ion battery fits the Way Systems WAY-S and MTT 1510 mobile thermal printers. Both units run the same voltage rail and connector format, so one cell covers either model. Capacity is 8.88Wh — match this against your original label before fitting.

  • WAY-S and MTT 1510 shared platform: These two printers share the same battery bay, contact layout, and BMS handshake protocol. The printer's firmware reads cell voltage at startup — both models accept the same 7.4V nominal signal without triggering a mismatch fault.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the MTT 1510 platform. The BMS negotiated correctly, thermal head draw stayed within current limits, and the paper feed motor received consistent torque through the full discharge curve.
  • First-use print sequence: After installing and charging fully, print five test receipts before deploying the unit in the field. Portable printer feed motors require this sequence so the BMS can calibrate its current profile against real load — skipping it can cause premature low-battery warnings under motor draw.

Why the MTT 1510 stops printing after sitting unused for weeks

Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage. If the MTT 1510 sits long enough, cell voltage drops below the printer's minimum motor-drive threshold — typically around 6.8V for this class of device. At that point the printer powers on but sends no signal to the thermal head or feed motor. The BMS has not failed; it is simply blocking output to protect the cell. Plug in and charge for at least 90 minutes before attempting a print job.

Bluetooth dropping mid-print on the WAY-S

The WAY-S radio module draws a short current spike each time it transmits print data. At low battery charge, voltage sags during that spike and the radio resets, ending the connection before the job completes. This is not a pairing fault — it is a voltage-floor issue. Charge the battery above 50% before starting multi-page or label-batch jobs, and the sag stays within the radio module's tolerance band.

Frequently Asked Questions

My MTT 1510 powers on fine but won't feed paper or print anything — what's going on?

The feed motor and thermal head both need the battery above roughly 6.8V to activate. If the printer sat unused for a few weeks, the cell voltage may have dropped below that threshold even though the display still lights up. Charge the unit fully, wait for the charge indicator to clear, then run a test print. If it still won't feed after a full charge, check that the BMS handshake completed — power the printer off, remove the battery for 30 seconds, refit it, then charge again from zero.

Print is coming out faded or patchy — could the new battery cause that?

Yes. The thermal print head relies on a stable voltage to reach the correct temperature across its full width. If the battery charge is low or the BMS is still in its initial calibration phase, voltage fluctuates slightly and the head produces uneven heat — which shows up as faded or streaky output. Charge fully and print five test receipts to let the BMS settle its current profile. If fading continues only toward the end of a long session, the thermal head itself may need inspection.

Paper keeps jamming in the WAY-S even though the feed mechanism looks clear — is this a battery issue?

It can be. The feed motor torque drops as battery voltage falls, and at lower charge levels the motor does not generate enough pressure to pull paper through cleanly — especially with thicker label stock. Clear the jam, charge the battery to at least 7.2V (roughly 80% on most chargers), then retry. If jams only occur near the end of a session, avoid depleting the battery below half charge before feeding the next job.
