Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Atlas Copco LokTor H18 / P18T / S18P — 18V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This is an 18V, 2000mAh (36Wh) Li-ion replacement battery for the Atlas Copco LokTor cordless torque wrench series. It fits the LokTor H18, P18T, P18TX, and S18P, along with eight additional models in that line. The battery slots into the tool's standard battery bay and communicates with the onboard BMS to enable controlled-torque operation.
- LokTor series compatibility: The H18, P18T, P18TX, and S18P share the same 18V power rail, connector footprint, and BMS handshake protocol. Atlas Copco unified these across the LokTor range so one battery pack covers the full platform without adapter hardware.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through repeated torque-pulse sequences and monitored the BMS for overcurrent trips during motor-start inrush. The protection circuit tracked current spikes without nuisance cutoffs under normal fastening loads.
- LokTor motor-start conditioning: On first use, run the tool at half load for two cycles before applying maximum torque. This allows the BMS to profile the motor's inrush current draw and set overcurrent thresholds before you push the tool to its torque limits.
BMS cutoff on trigger-pull inrush in precision torque tools
Cordless torque wrenches draw a sharp current spike the moment the motor engages — this inrush can be three to five times the steady-state draw. If the BMS has not yet profiled the motor's inrush signature, it may interpret that spike as a fault and cut power before the fastening cycle completes. A new or recently stored pack is most vulnerable because the BMS starts with conservative default thresholds. Running two partial-load cycles recalibrates those thresholds to the actual motor profile.
Charger not recognising a new pack after storage
Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage, and if voltage drops below approximately 2.5V per cell, most chargers will not begin a charge cycle — the pack looks dead even though the cells are recoverable. Atlas Copco chargers typically show a blinking red LED in this state rather than a solid charge indicator. Some chargers include a recovery or "wake" mode that applies a low precharge current to bring cells back above the acceptance threshold. If your charger lacks that mode, a compatible charger with a precharge function will restore the pack — target 3.0V per cell before switching to normal charge.

Frequently Asked Questions
The LokTor cuts out the instant I pull the trigger — why does it keep doing this on a new battery?
That cutout on trigger pull is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a faulty battery. The motor's inrush current spike at startup briefly exceeds the BMS's default protection threshold before it has profiled the motor. Run two half-load fastening cycles first — the BMS recalibrates its overcurrent limit to the actual inrush signature and the nuisance trips stop.
My LokTor bogs down and loses torque mid-cycle even though the battery shows charge remaining — what's happening?
That bog is voltage sag — the battery's rail voltage drops under sustained load because internal resistance has risen, usually from repeated shallow cycling or aged cell chemistry. Check the battery terminal contacts on both the pack and the tool bay for oxidation or debris; high contact resistance amplifies sag significantly. If the contacts are clean and the sag persists, the cell capacity has faded below the torque controller's operating voltage floor. Measure open-circuit voltage at rest — a healthy 18V Li-ion pack should read above 19.5V after a full charge.
The LokTor delivers noticeably less torque in cold weather — is the battery damaged?
No damage — Li-ion internal resistance rises sharply below 5°C, which reduces the current the pack can deliver at a stable voltage. The torque controller sees lower available power and the tool output drops accordingly. Store the battery at room temperature and fit it to the tool just before use rather than leaving it on the machine overnight in a cold workshop. If you work consistently below 5°C, allow a 10-minute warm-up period with the battery pocketed against your body before starting fastening sequences.
