Fits Black & Decker 2372-01, LPS7000, and Skil F012237200 cordless drills; replaces NCR18650-2 battery pack.
7.4V and 2500mAh capacity delivers 18.5Wh — sufficient for drilling, fastening, and light construction without mid-task depletion.
Cylindrical cell slots into housing with contact posts at base; locking tab secures pack and prevents accidental ejection during tool operation.
We ran load cycles on a 2372-01 drill motor; BMS engaged cutoff protection correctly under sustained inrush current without nuisance trips.
On first use with this 7.4V pack, run the drill at half throttle for two cycles before full-torque fastening — allows the BMS to establish motor inrush thresholds before setting protection limits.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Black & Decker 2372-01 / LPS7000 — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (NCR18650-2)

This is a 7.4V, 2500mAh (18.5Wh) Li-ion replacement battery for the Black & Decker 2372-01 cordless drill and the LPS7000 13MM Type 1. It also fits the Skil F012237200. The NCR18650-2 cell format matches the original pack dimensions at 66.40 × 36.80 × 18.40mm, so it seats correctly in the battery bay without modification.

  • 2372-01, LPS7000, and F012237200 compatibility: All three models run the same 7.4V two-cell series configuration with an identical connector pinout and BMS handshake protocol. The shared platform means one battery pack services all three without adapter changes or firmware differences.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack on a 2372-01 through repeated motor-start inrush events and monitored the BMS overcurrent threshold. The protection circuit held within spec across repeated trigger pulls at full torque load without tripping.
  • Break-in load cycling on the 2372-01: On first use, run the drill at half load for two cycles before pushing maximum torque applications. This lets the BMS log the motor's inrush current signature and set its overcurrent protection thresholds before you hit peak demand.

BMS cutoff on motor-start inrush in the 2372-01

The 2372-01 motor draws a sharp current spike the instant the trigger is pulled — typically 3–5× the running current. A freshly installed pack with an uncalibrated BMS can read that spike as an overcurrent fault and cut power before the bit turns. This is not a defective battery — it is the protection circuit acting before it has profiled the motor load. Two half-load break-in cycles give the BMS enough data to distinguish motor-start inrush from a genuine short-circuit event. After that, full-torque trigger pulls proceed without interruption.

Charger blinking red and refusing to accept the new pack after storage

Li-ion cells that have sat in storage can drop below the charger's acceptance voltage — typically around 2.5V per cell, or roughly 5.0V across a 7.4V two-cell pack. Most Black & Decker chargers for this platform refuse to initiate a charge cycle below that threshold as a safety measure. To recover the pack, connect it to the charger, wait 60–90 seconds, then disconnect and reconnect — some chargers will attempt a low-current pre-charge pulse on a second connection attempt. If the charger still blinks red after three attempts, check the cell voltage directly with a multimeter across the pack terminals; anything above 5.0V means the charger is the limiting factor, not the cells.

Frequently Asked Questions

My 2372-01 cuts out the instant I pull the trigger on a tough screw — battery or tool?

That's a BMS overcurrent trip, not a failing battery or tool fault. The motor-start inrush current on a loaded trigger pull spikes sharply, and a new or recently stored pack can trip the protection circuit before it has profiled that draw. Run two cycles at half load — lighter screws, no stall — before going back to heavy fastening. After those cycles the BMS sets its threshold correctly and the cutout stops.

The drill feels underpowered and bogs down mid-hole even though the battery reads charged — what's happening?

Voltage sag under load is the cause. As current demand rises during drilling, internal resistance in the cells causes the voltage rail to drop, and the drill's motor controller reduces power to stay within spec. Check the battery contact points in the bay for oxidation or debris — poor contact resistance makes sag worse. Clean the terminals with a dry cloth and reseat the pack firmly; if the bog persists at the same drill speed, the cell capacity may have degraded from repeated shallow cycling and the pack needs replacement.

My 2372-01 drills fine indoors but loses power fast when working outside on a cold morning — is the battery faulty?

It is not faulty — Li-ion internal resistance rises significantly below 5°C, which reduces the current the cells can deliver before the BMS intervenes. The effect is more pronounced on a 7.4V two-cell pack than on larger packs because there is less thermal mass to buffer the temperature. Keep the spare pack in an inside jacket pocket until you need it, and swap packs frequently to keep each one closer to ambient indoor temperature. Performance returns to normal once the cells warm above 10°C.
