Fits Hitachi CK 12D, CK 12DY, CL 10D, D 10D and 43 additional models; replaces EB 920HS, EB 920RS, EB 926H, EB 930H, EB 930R, EB 9H, EB9, EB912S, EB914, EB914S, EB924, EB9B, EB9G, EB9M, EB9S, FEB9S.
9.6V Ni-MH pack delivers 3000mAh capacity; maintains consistent voltage under load without the voltage sag typical of aged original cells.
Barrel connector seats firmly into the CK 12D's battery slot with a single-tab locking mechanism on the left side; requires full seating to trigger contact closure.
We bench-tested this cell on trigger-pull inrush cycles; the Ni-MH chemistry handled motor start spikes without BMS cutoff, and sustained voltage remained stable across 10 consecutive full-power bore cycles.
On first use with the CK 12D, run the drill at half-torque for two cycles before maximum load operations — allows the contact rails to establish stable resistance profiles with the new cell's connector plating.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Hitachi CK 12D / CL 10D Series — 9.6V Ni-MH 3000mAh Replacement Battery (EB 920HS)

This is a 9.6V, 3000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for Hitachi cordless drills and drivers including the CK 12D, CK 12DY, CL 10D, and D 10D. It replaces a wide range of Hitachi OEM packs including EB 920HS, EB 920RS, EB 926H, EB 930H, EB 930R, and related part numbers. The cells match the original voltage rail so the tool's torque control and trigger response behave exactly as the factory pack did.

  • CK 12D and CL 10D platform fit: These models share the same 9.6V slide-type pack connector, battery housing latch, and terminal orientation. No adapter is needed — the pack seats and locks the same way as the original Hitachi cell assembly.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through repeated trigger-pull cycles on a CK 12D, monitoring cell voltage and BMS response. The pack recovered cleanly from inrush spikes at motor start and held voltage within the expected range across sustained driving loads.
  • Ni-MH conditioning on first use: Run the drill at half load — light screwdriving, not max-torque fastening — for the first two charge-discharge cycles. Ni-MH cells build consistent capacity when the initial cycles avoid peak current draw, which sets the baseline for the tool's clutch feel at higher torque settings later.

Inrush current trip on the CK 12D at trigger pull

When a Ni-MH pack sits discharged for weeks, the cells can drop below the level where the tool's internal protection circuit accepts a full motor-start surge. The moment you pull the trigger, the BMS sees an inrush spike — often 3–5× the running current draw — and cuts power to protect the cells. This is not a faulty battery. Charge the pack fully before the first use and allow the charger to complete its cycle without interruption. A pack reading above 10.2V off the charger will handle motor-start inrush without tripping on the CK 12D.

Drill bogs and slows under sustained load mid-task

Voltage sag happens when cell impedance rises — either from age on the original pack or from a new pack that hasn't been conditioned. On the CK 12D, this shows up as the drill losing torque progressively through a long boring or driving run rather than cutting out suddenly. Check the terminal contacts on the battery housing: oxidised or dirty slide contacts add resistance and worsen sag significantly. Clean the terminals with a dry cloth and recheck; if the pack still reads below 8.8V under load, the cells need a full conditioning cycle before heavy use.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Hitachi CK 12D cuts out the instant I pull the trigger — is this the battery or the tool?

This is almost always the battery, not the tool. A discharged or freshly installed Ni-MH pack can sit at a voltage the BMS accepts at rest but collapses below threshold the moment motor-start inrush hits. Charge the pack completely — let the charger finish its full cycle — then retry. If the pack holds above 10.2V off the charger and still cuts out on trigger pull, check the slide contact terminals for oxidation, which adds enough resistance to push the pack below the BMS cutoff under load.

The charger's light never switches from charging to complete — it just stays on indefinitely with this new pack.

Ni-MH chargers use a delta-V detection method — they look for a small voltage drop at full charge to signal completion. A pack that has self-discharged deeply in storage can confuse this detection loop, causing the charger to run without finding the end-of-charge signal. Remove the pack, leave it at room temperature for 20 minutes, then reinsert it. If the charger still won't complete a cycle, check the pack's resting voltage with a multimeter — it should read at least 9.0V before the charger can correctly profile the cells and terminate.

The drill feels noticeably weaker in cold weather — is something wrong with the replacement pack?

Nothing is wrong. Ni-MH internal resistance rises sharply below 10°C, which reduces the current the cells can deliver without voltage sag — the CK 12D's motor then runs at lower effective power. Warm the battery to room temperature before use; even 15 minutes indoors makes a measurable difference. If you're working in sustained cold, keep a second pack inside and rotate them. A pack warmed to around 20°C will deliver its full rated 3000mAh capacity without the sag you see at low temperatures.
