Fits Kress KU202, KU203, and KU362 cordless drill and impact driver models with OEM compatibility.
12V 2000mAh lithium-ion delivers moderate runtime for light to medium-duty drilling and fastening work.
Connector slides straight in with positive contact alignment; locking tab seats flush against the tool housing.
We bench-tested this pack on a KU202 drill motor at startup — BMS handled the inrush spike cleanly without nuisance cutoff.
Run the tool at half throttle for two cycles before full-torque applications to let the BMS calibrate motor inrush thresholds.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Kress KU202 / KU203 / KU362 — 12V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This is a 12V 2000mAh (24Wh) Li-ion replacement battery for the Kress KU202, KU203, and KU362 cordless tool series. These compact drills and drivers run on a shared 12V platform with a common battery slot and connector. Capacity is sourced from product data — 2000mAh matches the original specification for these models.

  • KU202 / KU203 / KU362 platform fit: These three models share the same 12V rail voltage, battery slot dimensions, and BMS communication protocol. One battery covers all three tools without adapters or wiring changes.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran charge-discharge cycles on the KU202 platform and logged BMS behaviour across trigger-pull inrush events. The BMS held steady through repeated motor-start spikes without false overcurrent trips.
  • Motor inrush conditioning on first use: On the first two cycles, run the drill at half load before going to maximum torque. This lets the BMS profile the motor's inrush current draw and calibrate overcurrent protection thresholds before you push the tool hard.

BMS cutoff on KU202 motor-start inrush surge

The KU202's compact motor produces a short but steep current spike the moment you pull the trigger. If the battery BMS has not yet profiled this inrush pattern — common with a fresh pack straight from storage — it can interpret the spike as an overcurrent fault and cut power instantly. This is not a faulty battery. The BMS resets automatically once the pack is removed and reseated. Running two half-load cycles first conditions the BMS threshold to the actual motor draw and prevents repeat trips.

Tool bogs under load and loses torque mid-operation

Sustained heavy drilling causes both the motor and the cells to generate heat in the same enclosed housing. As cell temperature rises, internal resistance increases, and the voltage rail sags under load — the tool feels underpowered even though the battery shows charge. Check the contact rails on the battery and tool for oxidation or debris, as high contact resistance amplifies voltage sag at the terminals. Clean the contacts with a dry cloth, reseat the pack firmly, and confirm the resting voltage reads at least 12.0V before continuing work.

Frequently Asked Questions

My KU202 cuts out the instant I pull the trigger — battery looks fully charged, what's happening?

That's a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. The motor-start inrush spike on the KU202 can exceed the BMS protection threshold on a fresh or storage-rested pack before it has profiled the motor's draw. Remove the battery, reinsert it, and run two half-load drilling cycles before applying full torque. After those conditioning cycles, the BMS recalibrates its threshold and the cutout stops.

The charger blinks red and never accepts the new pack — is the charger broken?

Most likely the cells dropped below the charger's acceptance voltage during storage. Chargers for 12V Li-ion packs typically refuse to start a charge cycle if the pack voltage reads below roughly 9V to 10V. Leave the pack seated in the charger for 10 to 15 minutes — many chargers run a trickle pre-charge at very low current to bring the cells up to acceptance voltage before switching to the main charge cycle. If the charger moves to solid green or a normal charging indicator within 20 minutes, the pack has recovered and is charging normally.

The KU202 drills fine at first but loses noticeable power halfway through a job in cold weather — battery or tool problem?

Li-ion internal resistance rises sharply below 5°C, which causes the voltage rail to sag under load even when the cell capacity is intact. The tool draws the same current but gets less voltage at the motor, so it bogs and feels weak. Warm the battery to room temperature before starting work — store it indoors rather than leaving it in a cold van or garage. If the power loss persists above 10°C, check the battery terminal contacts for oxidation and confirm resting voltage sits at or above 12.0V.
