Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

LUX-TOOLS ABS-12-Li — 12V Li-ion Replacement Battery (3I(NCM)R19/65)
This is a 12V, 3000mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the LUX-TOOLS ABS-12-Li cordless drill/driver. It matches the original voltage rail and connector format of the ABS-12-Li platform. When the factory pack degrades and holds less charge, this unit restores full tool function without replacing the drill itself.
- ABS-12-Li platform fit: The ABS-12-Li uses a 12V slide-pack format with a specific BMS handshake tied to the charger recognition circuit. This replacement carries the same voltage profile and communication logic, so the charger accepts the pack and the tool's torque control behaves normally.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through repeated motor-start inrush cycles on the ABS-12-Li. The BMS held steady through trigger-pull spikes without nuisance tripping, and cell voltage recovered cleanly between cycles.
- Break-in on the ABS-12-Li: For the first two charge cycles, run the drill at half load — light drilling, low-torque fastening — before moving to full-speed or high-torque work. This lets the BMS map the motor's inrush current draw and set its overcurrent threshold accurately before you hit maximum load.
BMS cutoff on ABS-12-Li motor-start inrush surge
Every trigger pull on the ABS-12-Li sends a brief inrush spike to the motor — typically three to five times the steady running current. A BMS that hasn't profiled this tool will sometimes read that spike as a fault and cut output. The 3I(NCM)R19/65 cell configuration is rated to handle that inrush without tripping, but a cold pack or a freshly installed battery straight from storage may still trigger a momentary cutoff on the first pull. If it cuts out once and then runs normally, that's the BMS calibrating — not a defective unit.
Charger won't recognise the new pack after it's been sitting in storage
Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage. If the pack voltage drops below roughly 9V — the charger's acceptance threshold for a 12V pack — the charger may blink an error or do nothing at all. The fix is a short manual bump: place the battery in the charger, remove it after 30 seconds, and re-seat it firmly. Repeat two or three times. This wakes the BMS and pulls cell voltage just high enough for the charger to begin a normal charge cycle at 12V.

Frequently Asked Questions
My ABS-12-Li cuts out the moment I pull the trigger hard — is the battery faulty?
This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. The motor-start inrush spike on the ABS-12-Li briefly exceeds the BMS threshold on a cold or freshly installed pack. Release the trigger, wait five seconds, and pull again at half speed — the BMS resets between pulls and calibrates to the motor's draw within one or two cycles. If the cutout stops happening after the first few trigger pulls, the pack is functioning correctly.
The drill bogs down under load and feels weaker than the old battery — what's causing that?
Voltage sag under load is the most common cause. When contact resistance at the battery rail is high — from dirt, oxidation, or a loose seat — the pack voltage drops under motor load and the tool loses torque. Remove the battery, clean both the pack contacts and the tool's terminal block with a dry cloth or fine abrasive, re-seat the pack until it clicks, then retest under load. Rail voltage during drilling should stay above 10.5V on a charged 12V pack.
The battery charge dropped significantly after sitting unused for two months — is that normal?
Li-ion cells self-discharge at roughly 1–3% per month under normal storage conditions, but capacity loss beyond that usually points to shallow cycling before storage. Repeatedly charging the ABS-12-Li pack to full and pulling only a small portion of capacity before recharging accelerates capacity fade in Li-ion cells. To slow this, let the pack discharge to around 30–40% before storing it, and store it away from heat sources. Recharge fully before putting the tool back into service.
