Fits Meister Craft MAS144, MAS144VL cordless drill and impact driver; replaces OEM part 5451170.
14.4V and 5000mAh capacity deliver sustained power through full-day drilling and driving cycles without mid-job battery swaps.
Slide connector seats flush into the tool's battery slot with positive-lock tab; no wobble or contact resistance issues.
We bench-tested this pack through five full discharge cycles on a MAS144 drill; BMS held steady during trigger-pull inrush without nuisance cutoff.
On first use with this 14.4V pack, run the drill at half throttle for two cycles before maximum torque or sustained load operations.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Meister Craft MAS144 Series — 14.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (5451170)

This is a 14.4V Li-ion battery rated at 5000mAh (72Wh), built to replace OEM part 5451170. It fits the Meister Craft MAS144, MAS144VL, and compatible platform tools listed under model 5450880. Slot it into your existing charger — same voltage rail, same connector footprint.

  • MAS144 and MAS144VL platform fit: Both models share the same 14.4V battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. One battery covers both tools — no adapters, no wiring changes.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through full charge-discharge cycles on a 14.4V drill platform. The BMS handled motor-start inrush current without false overcurrent trips and held the voltage rail steady under sustained load.
  • First-cycle load conditioning: On first use, run the tool at half load for two cycles before full-torque applications. This lets the BMS profile your motor's inrush current draw and set overcurrent thresholds accurately before you push maximum demand.

BMS cutoff on motor-start inrush surge in the MAS144

When you pull the trigger hard from a dead stop, the motor draws a spike of current that can be three to five times the running load. A freshly installed or storage-depleted pack has elevated internal resistance, which amplifies the voltage drop at that spike. The BMS reads this as an overcurrent event and trips the protection circuit before the motor ever reaches speed. Two half-load conditioning cycles lower internal resistance and let the BMS calibrate its thresholds to your motor's actual start profile.

Charger blinking red and refusing to accept the new pack after storage

Li-ion chargers have a minimum acceptance voltage — typically around 10V for a 14.4V pack. If the battery sat discharged for an extended period, the cells may have self-discharged below that threshold and the charger will blink red rather than begin a charge cycle. This is a BMS lockout, not a dead battery. Apply a brief trickle charge using a compatible Li-ion recovery charger at 0.1C until the pack reads above 12V, then transfer it to your standard charger to complete the full cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions

My MAS144 cuts out instantly the moment I pull the trigger hard — is the battery faulty?

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a faulty cell. The motor-start inrush spike on a 14.4V drill can hit three to five times the running current, and a new or storage-depleted pack has higher internal resistance that deepens the voltage sag at that moment. The BMS reads it as a fault and shuts the pack down before damage occurs. Run two half-load cycles first — light drilling, no full-torque applications — and the trip threshold will reset to match your motor's actual inrush profile.

The tool runs fine for a few seconds then bogs down and feels weak under load — new battery, same problem.

Voltage sag under sustained load usually points to contact resistance at the battery rail, not cell capacity. Clean the battery terminal contacts on both the pack and the tool with isopropyl alcohol and a brass brush — oxidation on the spring contacts creates enough resistance to drag the voltage rail down under load. If the sag continues after cleaning, check that the battery is fully seated and the locking tab is fully engaged, as a partial connection raises contact resistance further. A fully charged, clean-contact pack should hold above 13V under moderate drill load.

The battery works fine indoors but the tool loses power fast when I'm working outside in winter.

Li-ion internal resistance rises sharply below 5°C, which reduces the current the cells can deliver without the BMS tripping. This isn't capacity loss — the energy is still there, but the cold cells can't release it fast enough to meet motor demand. Store the battery indoors at room temperature and bring it to the job site just before use. A pack that starts at 20°C will hold usable voltage under load significantly longer in cold conditions than one that sat in a cold van overnight.
