14.4V lithium-ion pack delivers 28.8Wh (2000mAh); maintains consistent torque output through fastening and drilling cycles on this compact platform.
Slide-mount connector with single locking tab; seats flush into the drill grip without play or terminal binding.
Bench testing showed stable BMS profile on first charge; no thermal throttle on sustained half-load drilling through 5mm hardwood.
On first use with the CDD144V22, run the motor at half trigger for two cycles before maximum torque fastening — allows the BMS to calibrate motor inrush thresholds.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Ryobi CDD144V22 Series — 14.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BPL1414)

This 14.4V, 2000mAh Li-ion battery replaces the BPL1414 pack on Ryobi 14.4V cordless drill/drivers. It fits the CDD144V22, CDDI14022NF, LCD14022, LCDI14022, and related models in the 14.4V platform. Voltage, cell count, and connector match the OEM spec exactly.

  • 14.4V platform fit: These models share the same four-cell Li-ion configuration, slide-rail connector, and BMS communication protocol. The pack slots into any of them without adapter or modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge, discharge, and repeated trigger-pull cycles on the CDD144V22. The BMS held stable through motor-start inrush and did not trip on repeated full-torque pulls.
  • First-use load cycling on the CDD144V22: Run the drill at half load — light drilling, low torque — for the first two full charge cycles. This lets the BMS record the motor's inrush current signature before it sets its overcurrent protection thresholds. Skipping this step can cause early BMS trips on hard fastening applications.

BMS cutoff on motor-start inrush with the CDD144V22

Every trigger pull on a cordless drill sends a short current spike — inrush — as the motor armature accelerates from rest. On a fresh or cold pack, that spike can briefly exceed the BMS overcurrent threshold, cutting the tool off instantly. The CDD144V22 motor draws more inrush current when driving large-diameter bits or self-tapping screws into dense material. If the pack shuts off on trigger pull but recovers after a few seconds, inrush trip is the cause — not a faulty battery.

Tool bogs and loses torque mid-hole without shutting off

This is voltage sag — the rail voltage drops under sustained load faster than the cells can recover, so the motor slows without a clean BMS cutoff. It usually points to high contact resistance at the slide-rail terminals or to cells that have been repeatedly shallow-cycled and lost usable capacity. Clean the battery terminals and tool contacts with isopropyl alcohol and check for corrosion or debris on the rail. If sag persists on a new pack, check rail contact pressure — the terminal springs in the tool should hold the pack at no less than 13.5V under full load.

Frequently Asked Questions

My CDD144V22 cuts out the instant I pull the trigger on a tough screw — is the battery tripping?

Yes — that's a BMS overcurrent trip caused by motor-start inrush current exceeding the protection threshold. It happens most often on the first few uses of a new pack or when driving large fasteners into hardwood. Run the drill at half load for two full charge cycles so the BMS can profile the motor draw before you push it hard. After conditioning, the pack should hold through normal trigger pulls without cutting out.

My charger is blinking red and won't accept this new pack — what's happening?

A pack that has sat in storage can drop below the charger's acceptance voltage, usually around 10–11V for a 14.4V Li-ion pack. Most Ryobi chargers interpret anything below that threshold as a damaged cell and refuse to start a charge cycle. Leave the pack connected for 10–15 minutes — some chargers run a trickle recovery mode that brings the voltage up to the acceptance window before switching to full charge. If the pack reaches 12V or above and the charger still blinks red, check that the communication pins on the slide rail are clean and making full contact.

The drill works fine in warm conditions but feels noticeably weaker when I use it in the garage in winter — is the battery failing?

It's not failing — Li-ion internal resistance rises sharply below 5°C, which causes voltage sag under load and reduces the current the cells can deliver to the motor. The CDD144V22 will feel sluggish and lose torque in cold conditions even with a healthy pack. Bring the battery indoors to room temperature for 20–30 minutes before use, and keep it in a jacket pocket between tasks in cold weather. Performance will return to normal once the cells are above 10°C.
