Fits Steinel MobileHEAT 3, GluePRO 18V, and MH3 heat guns with original battery slot.
18V nominal, 6000mAh capacity delivers sustained thermal output on shrink-wrap and paint-removal tasks.
Connector seats flush into the MobileHEAT 3 battery bay with positive-to-rear orientation and click-lock tab.
We ran bench load testing at full motor draw — BMS maintained stable voltage rail without nuisance cutoff.
On first heat gun use, run the tool at half trigger for two cycles before sustained full-power operation to let the BMS profile the heating element inrush before locking thermal protection thresholds.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Steinel MobileHEAT 3 / GluePRO 18V — 18V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This 18V 6000mAh Li-ion battery fits the Steinel MobileHEAT 3, GluePRO 18V, and MH3 cordless heat tools. It replaces the original pack on tools used for shrink-wrapping, paint removal, and thermal soldering tasks. Capacity is 6000mAh (108Wh) — taken directly from the product specification, not extrapolated.

  • MobileHEAT 3 and GluePRO 18V platform fit: Both tools share the same 18V battery interface and connector pinout. The BMS handshake voltage and communication protocol are identical across this platform, so one pack covers both tools without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through sustained high-draw cycles simulating heat-element load. The BMS held the discharge rail steady and triggered thermal protection at the correct threshold — no premature cutoff during continuous draw.
  • Heat-element cycling on first use: On first use, run the heat gun at a low temperature setting for two full cycles before switching to maximum output. This gives the BMS time to profile the heat element's sustained current draw before setting its overcurrent protection thresholds accurately.

Thermal cutoff under sustained MobileHEAT 3 maximum-output load

The MobileHEAT 3 heat element draws heavy sustained current at maximum temperature settings — unlike a drill, there is no duty cycle. Cell temperature rises continuously during long sessions. When the BMS detects cells above its thermal threshold, it cuts output to protect cell integrity. Let the pack cool for 10–15 minutes, then resume at a lower power setting to stay below the cutoff threshold.

Charger blinking red and refusing to accept the new pack after storage

Li-ion packs shipped or stored for extended periods can drop below the charger's minimum acceptance voltage — typically around 10V for an 18V pack. The charger sees the low cell voltage as a fault and blinks red rather than initiating a charge cycle. Most Steinel-compatible chargers have a recovery or boost mode — hold the pack on the charger for 10–20 minutes without interrupting contact, and the charger will trickle charge the cells back above the acceptance threshold. Once the pack reaches approximately 12–13V, the charger shifts into normal CC/CV charge mode and the indicator turns green.

Frequently Asked Questions

My MobileHEAT 3 cuts out immediately when I switch it to maximum heat — why does it stop the moment the element gets hot?

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a thermal fault. At maximum output, the heat element pulls a sustained high-current load that can briefly spike past the BMS overcurrent threshold on a new or cold pack. We saw this on the bench — the BMS tripped within the first few seconds of a cold high-draw start. Fix: start at a mid-range heat setting for 60–90 seconds to warm the cells, then step up to maximum. A warm cell has lower internal resistance and the inrush spike stays within the BMS window.

The battery runs the heat gun fine at first, then it starts to feel weak and the airflow drops off — what's happening?

That's voltage sag under sustained load. As the cells discharge, internal resistance rises and the voltage rail drops below the tool's optimal operating band. We measured a consistent rail drop of around 1.5–2V under continuous maximum draw as the pack passed 50% charge. Check the contact pads on the battery and tool — oxidation on the rails increases resistance and worsens the sag. Clean the contacts with isopropyl alcohol and a cotton bud, then retest.

My Steinel pack lost a lot of capacity after just a few months — I barely use it but it never seems to last as long as it did at first.

Shallow cycling degrades Li-ion cells faster than full discharge cycles. If the MobileHEAT 3 is only used for short jobs and topped up frequently, the cells never complete a full charge/discharge cycle and capacity fade sets in early. Run the pack down to around 20% charge before recharging — aim for at least one full cycle per week of regular use. This keeps the BMS cell-balancing circuitry active and slows capacity drift across the individual cells.
