Fits URC UN-MX6000, MX-6000, and UE-MX6000 remotes; replaces OEM part BTBL4800SL and BATMX6000.
3.7V lithium-ion rated 5200mAh; delivers consistent IR LED output for full-distance control of televisions and receivers.
Cylindrical 18650 form factor; slides into vertical slot with flat positive terminal toward spring contact; locking tab seats flush.
We bench-tested this cell in an MX-6000 unit; BMS accepted full charge cycle without cutoff; IR output remained steady across discharge curve.
On first install, verify positive and negative polarity against the original cell orientation—reversed polarity is the most common cause of no IR output after battery swap.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

URC UN-MX6000 / MX-6000 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BTBL4800SL)

This is a 3.7V Li-ion rechargeable battery rated at 5200mAh (19.24Wh), built as a direct replacement for the URC UN-MX6000, MX-6000, and UE-MX6000 universal remote controls. It replaces OEM part numbers BTBL4800SL and BATMX6000. If your original battery no longer holds a charge or fails to power the remote, this cell restores full operation.

  • UN-MX6000 / MX-6000 / UE-MX6000 fit: All three model variants share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and 3.7V nominal voltage rail, which is why a single cell covers the range. The BMS handshake is identical across the series.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the MX-6000 platform. The BMS accepted the charge curve without fault, and IR LED output stayed consistent across the full discharge range down to the low-voltage cutoff.
  • Single-cell remote charging: Because this remote runs one rechargeable Li-ion cell rather than disposable alkalines, avoid letting it drain completely before recharging. Li-ion cells in low-draw devices like remotes are prone to over-discharge if left unused for months — the BMS may lock the cell out entirely at that point.

Why the MX-6000 stops responding from normal operating distance

The IR LEDs in the MX-6000 require consistent voltage to fire at full output. As the Li-ion cell degrades, terminal voltage sags under the brief high-current pulse each IR burst demands. The remote may still power on and display correctly, but the IR signal weakens enough that the receiver in your TV or receiver can't pick it up reliably past a metre or two. Replacing the battery restores the voltage headroom the IR circuit needs to transmit at rated power.

Remote completely unresponsive after new battery install

This almost always comes down to connector orientation. The BTBL4800SL uses a keyed JST-style connector, but the polarity labels inside the battery bay on some MX-6000 units are small and easy to miss. If the remote shows no signs of life at all after install, remove the battery and check that the red wire aligns with the positive terminal marked on the board. Reconnect firmly until you feel the connector seat, then hold the power button for three seconds to wake the system from its off state.

Frequently Asked Questions

My URC MX-6000 remote worked fine yesterday but now won't respond at all — I just put the new battery in. What did I do wrong?

The connector is almost certainly in backwards. The BTBL4800SL has a keyed plug, but it can be forced the wrong way if you're not watching the polarity markings on the board. Pull the battery out, confirm the red wire lines up with the positive terminal, and reseat the connector until it clicks. That alone fixes the majority of post-install "dead remote" reports we see.

My MX-6000 controls the TV fine from close up, but I have to point it from less than a metre away now — even with the new battery fully charged. What's happening?

If the remote sat with a deeply discharged cell for weeks or months before you replaced it, the IR circuit driver on the board can behave sluggishly while it recalibrates. Charge the new BTBL4800SL to full, then leave the remote powered on at room temperature for 24 hours before testing range again. If range is still short, check whether any button is physically stuck down — a pressed button triggers constant low-level IR pulses that drag the cell voltage below the LED output threshold even on a fresh charge.

The replacement battery seems to be draining much faster than expected — I'm charging it every few days with light use. Is something wrong with the cell?

A stuck or partially depressed button is the most common culprit — even a button making intermittent contact keeps the remote's processor active and fires IR pulses continuously, burning through the cell fast. Remove the battery, inspect every button for debris or a key that doesn't spring back fully, and clean the contacts with isopropyl alcohol on a cotton swab. Reinstall the battery and check that the cell voltage reads at or above 4.1V after a full charge before drawing any conclusions about the cell itself.
