Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Grundig 8875 / 8825 / 8835 — 2.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 2.4V, 2000mAh nickel-metal hydride battery for the Grundig 8875, 8825, and 8835 cordless electric shavers. It replaces the original cell when the shaver loses charge capacity after repeated cycles. Voltage and form factor match the original — 48.73 × 28.68 × 14.31mm.

  • 8875, 8825, and 8835 compatibility: These three Grundig shaver models share the same battery housing, voltage rail, and connector layout. One cell covers all three without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the 8875 platform. The BMS accepted the cell without error, and motor speed held consistent across the discharge curve until the low-battery cutoff triggered.
  • Charging port care after wet shaving: If you rinse this shaver under water, let the charging port air-dry fully before placing it in the dock. Moisture bridging the dock contacts can trip a BMS protection fault — the shaver then reports a dead battery rather than a charging error, which sends most users down the wrong repair path.

Capacity fade from daily partial charging on the Grundig 8875

Ni-MH cells in shavers used daily rarely deplete fully before the next charge. That shallow-cycling pattern compresses the active charge range the cell uses, so the battery indicator starts drifting — showing full charge when actual capacity has dropped significantly. The cell isn't faulty at that point; it has simply learned a narrow operating window. A full discharge-to-cutoff followed by a complete charge resets the cycle and re-calibrates the indicator. If the shaver still cuts out early after two full cycles, the cell has degraded past recovery and needs replacing.

Motor speed drops noticeably before the low-battery indicator activates

Under shaving motor load, a degraded Ni-MH cell sags in voltage before it hits the BMS cutoff threshold. The shaver motor draws enough current to pull the cell below its stable operating voltage — you feel the speed drop before the indicator reacts. This is voltage sag under load, not a firmware or motor fault. Fitting a fresh 2000mAh cell restores the voltage headroom and the motor runs at full speed again. Confirm the dock output reads 2.4V before ruling out a faulty charger.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Grundig 8875 shaver slows down mid-shave but the battery indicator still shows charge — what's happening?

A degraded Ni-MH cell sags in voltage under the motor's current draw before the BMS triggers its low-battery cutoff. The indicator reads state of charge at rest, not under load — so it shows charge remaining while the cell can't sustain the voltage the motor needs. Replacing the cell resolves the sag. If the new cell shows the same behaviour within a few weeks, check that the dock output is delivering a stable 2.4V.

The shaver stopped charging after I rinsed it — the dock light comes on but the shaver won't accept a charge. Is the battery dead?

Water bridging the dock contacts trips a BMS protection fault in the shaver, and the device reports it as a battery failure rather than a charging fault — so the battery often gets replaced when it doesn't need to be. Dry the charging port and dock contacts thoroughly, leave the shaver unplugged for 30 minutes, then reconnect. If the fault clears, the original battery may still be serviceable. If the shaver still won't charge after the contacts are fully dry, test with a replacement cell to confirm whether the fault is in the BMS or the battery.

The shaver charges fully but the indicator drifts — it reads full after a short charge and then dies quickly in use. What causes this?

This is a symptom of shallow-cycle conditioning in Ni-MH cells. Charging the shaver daily before it depletes trains the cell to operate in a narrow voltage band, causing the indicator to misread actual capacity. Run the shaver down to the low-battery cutoff point, then charge it fully without interruption — repeat this twice. If the indicator still drifts after two full cycles, the cell's capacity has dropped below a usable threshold and the battery needs replacing.
