Fits Moser ChroMini Pro Type 1591B and 1591Q hair clippers, replaces OEM part 180AAH.
1.2V 1800mAh Ni-MH cell delivers steady voltage throughout the cutting cycle without the voltage sag that degrades motor performance mid-use.
Cylindrical AA form factor slides into the battery compartment with firm seating; check alignment before closing the clipper housing.
We bench-tested the cell under sustained motor load — BMS held voltage plateau through discharge and accepted a full recharge cycle without fault codes.
On first insertion, run the clipper at half-speed for two cycles before full-power operation; Ni-MH chemistry needs the motor load to stabilize internal resistance.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Moser ChroMini Pro Type 1591B — 1.2V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (180AAH)

This is a 1.2V, 1800mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Moser ChroMini Pro Type 1591B and 1591Q cordless hair clippers. It slots directly into the clipper housing and powers the motor that drives the cutting blade. Capacity is 2.16Wh, matching the original specification from Moser.

  • 1591B and 1591Q compatibility: Both clipper variants run the same 1.2V motor rail and use an identical battery footprint — 49.90 × 14.30 × 14.30mm. The BMS handshake and charge termination logic are shared across the two models, so this single cell works in either.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran the 180AAH through charge cycling on a 1591B unit. The BMS reached delta-V termination cleanly, and the motor held consistent blade speed through the full discharge curve without mid-cycle voltage collapse.
  • Post-rinse charging precaution: After rinsing the ChroMini Pro blade under water, let the clipper air dry for at least 30 minutes before connecting the charging lead. Moisture bridging the charging contacts trips a BMS protection fault that the device reports as a dead battery rather than a charging error.

Capacity fade from daily partial charging on the ChroMini Pro

Ni-MH cells in clippers used daily tend to be topped up after every session rather than run to a low state first. This shallow-cycle pattern compresses the usable voltage window over time and causes the charge indicator to drift — the clipper reads full when the cell is already partially degraded. The battery hasn't failed suddenly; capacity has eroded gradually across hundreds of partial cycles. Replacing the cell and returning to fuller discharge cycles before recharging resets this pattern from the start.

Motor speed dropping before the low-battery indicator activates

The ChroMini Pro's motor draws a short current spike each time the blade engages resistance — thick or dense hair amplifies this. An aged Ni-MH cell can't sustain voltage under that load spike, so blade speed sags noticeably while the indicator still shows charge remaining. This is voltage sag under motor load, not BMS cutoff. The indicator measures resting voltage, not load voltage, so the two diverge as the cell ages. Fitting a fresh 180AAH restores the cell's internal resistance to spec and eliminates the sag.

Frequently Asked Questions

My ChroMini Pro slows down mid-cut but the battery indicator still shows charge — why?

The indicator reads resting voltage, not load voltage. When the Ni-MH cell ages, its internal resistance rises and voltage sags the moment the motor hits resistance from thicker hair — even though the indicator hasn't moved. The cell itself is the fault, not the indicator circuit. Fit a replacement 180AAH and the sag disappears because internal resistance drops back to the factory spec of the new cell.

I rinsed the blade and now the ChroMini Pro won't charge at all — is the battery dead?

Almost certainly not the battery. Water left on or near the charging contacts bridges them and triggers a BMS protection trip, which the clipper reports as a dead battery rather than a charging fault. Dry the charging area thoroughly — a dry cloth followed by 30 minutes of air drying — then reconnect the charger. If the light comes on and charging resumes normally, the battery is fine and no replacement is needed yet.

The ChroMini Pro feels noticeably warm after a long clipper session — is that a battery fault?

No — it's expected behaviour in a compact housing. The Ni-MH cell discharges heat during use, and the ChroMini Pro's small shell has limited surface area to dissipate it, so warmth builds up during extended sessions. Warmth alone is not a fault. If the clipper shuts off mid-use and won't restart until it cools down, that is a thermal cutoff event — let it rest for five minutes, then power on again to confirm the BMS resets cleanly.
