Norelco T900 / T960 Series — 1.2V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 1.2V, 2000mAh Ni-MH cell for the Norelco T900 and T960 electric shavers, as well as the HQG265 / HQG 265 models. It slots into the shaver housing in place of the original cell, restoring power to the cutting motor. Voltage and capacity match the factory specification exactly.

• T900, T960, and HQG265 compatibility: These models share the same single-cell 1.2V Ni-MH power rail, physical cell dimensions (50.00 × 14.80 × 14.50mm), and motor circuit. One cell fits all listed variants without modification.
• Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the shaver's charge and discharge circuit. The cell accepted a full charge, held voltage under motor load, and the protection circuit responded correctly to end-of-discharge without dropping into an unrecoverable low-voltage state.
• Wet-shave port caution: If you rinse the shaver head under water, let the charging port air-dry for at least 30 minutes before connecting the charger. Moisture across the charging contacts can trip a protection fault that the shaver reports as a dead battery rather than a charging error.

Capacity fade from daily partial charging on the T900

Ni-MH cells develop a voltage memory effect when cycled repeatedly between 40–80% without a full discharge. The T900's fuel indicator calibrates against peak charge voltage, so after weeks of partial cycles the indicator reads "full" while actual capacity has dropped. The motor still runs, but the shaver cuts out earlier than expected. Running the cell down to cutoff and then charging fully once resets the calibration and recovers usable capacity.

Motor speed dropping mid-shave before the indicator shows low

This happens when the cell's internal resistance has risen — common in older Ni-MH cells — causing voltage to sag under the momentary current spike the motor draws at startup or during dense beard sections. The shaver's indicator measures resting voltage, not load voltage, so it still shows adequate charge while the motor is already starved. Under load, cell voltage can dip below the motor's minimum operating threshold even when the indicator reads mid-range. Replacing the cell and running a full charge cycle before first use brings resting and load voltage back into alignment.
