Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Wahl 1888 / Li+Pro 2 — 3.2V LiFePO4 Replacement Battery
This is a 3.2V 1800mAh LiFePO4 replacement battery for the Wahl 1888 and Li+Pro 2 cordless clippers. It slots into the same battery bay as the original cell and connects to the same BMS circuit. Capacity is rated at 5.76Wh — matching the original specification from Wahl's product line.
- 1888 and Li+Pro 2 compatibility: Both models run the same 3.2V LiFePO4 cell on the same connector and BMS handshake protocol. The cell dimensions — 69.00 × 18.60 × 18.60mm — match the battery bay geometry across both variants, so no adapter or modification is needed.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge and discharge cycles on the 1888 platform. The BMS accepted charge without fault codes, and the clipper motor held consistent speed through the discharge curve without early cutoff.
- Clipper charging port care: After any wet cleaning of the clipper head, let the port dry fully before docking. Water sitting in the charging port bridges the contacts and trips a BMS protection fault — the device reports this as a dead battery rather than a charging error, which sends most users down the wrong fault-finding path.
Why the 1888 motor slows before the battery indicator hits empty
LiFePO4 cells have a flat discharge curve, but under clipper motor load the terminal voltage still sags as the cell approaches depletion. The Wahl 1888 motor draw spikes during thick cuts, pulling the cell voltage below the threshold the motor needs for full speed — before the fuel gauge logic registers low battery. The BMS does not cut out yet because the resting voltage recovers between cuts. The result is a clipper that feels underpowered but still shows partial charge. This is normal LiFePO4 behaviour under pulse load, not a fault with the replacement cell.
Battery indicator drifting after daily partial charges
Docking the 1888 after every short session without fully depleting the cell causes the fuel gauge calibration to drift over time. The clipper's charge indicator is calibrated against a full cycle — repeated shallow cycles mean the gauge loses its reference points and starts misreporting remaining charge. To recalibrate, run the clipper until the BMS triggers the low-battery cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% in a single session. One full cycle resets the gauge and restores accurate charge reporting.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Wahl 1888 clipper is docked and not taking a charge — is the new battery the problem?
Oxidised dock contacts are the first thing to check — cleaning products used on the clipper head leave a residue that builds up on the charging pins and breaks the circuit. Wipe both the dock contacts and the clipper's charge port with a dry cloth or isopropyl alcohol on a cotton tip, then retry. If the BMS tripped due to moisture exposure, disconnect from the dock for 30 seconds, dry the port fully, and reconnect. A genuine charge fault will show as the indicator not moving at all after 10 minutes on a clean, dry dock.
The clipper runs warm during a long grooming session — is that a battery fault?
It is not a fault. The LiFePO4 cell and the clipper motor both generate heat in a compact housing, and that heat accumulates during extended use. The BMS has a thermal protection threshold — if the cell temperature climbs high enough, it will reduce current output to protect the cell, which you will notice as a slight drop in blade speed. Let the clipper cool for a few minutes between heavy sections. The BMS resets automatically once temperature drops back within range.
After fitting the replacement battery, the charge indicator shows full almost immediately — is the cell actually charging?
This is a gauge calibration issue, not a sign the cell is full. The fuel gauge in the 1888 lost its reference after the old depleted cell was removed. Run the clipper on a full grooming session until the BMS triggers the low-battery cutoff, then place it on the dock and charge without interruption until the indicator stops changing — typically signalled by the LED behaviour described in the Wahl manual. That one complete cycle re-establishes the gauge's zero and full reference points.
