Fits Moser ChromStyle 1871 and 1872 clippers; replaces OEM part 1871-7590.
3.6V, 2000mAh Ni-MH cell delivers full motor torque through the cutting cycle without sag.
Connector slides straight into the battery compartment with a positive-contact locking tab engagement.
We bench-tested this pack on a 1871 clipper motor load; BMS held voltage stable under peak draw.
On first charge after storage, insert the cell and run the clipper unplugged through three full trigger cycles — this seats the internal contact spring and prevents early cutoff during initial use.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Moser ChromStyle 1871 / 1872 Series — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (1871-7590)

This is a 3.6V, 2000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Moser ChromStyle 1871, Wella Academy ChromStyle, ChromStyle 1872, and Super Cordless 1872 clipper. It replaces OEM part 1871-7590 directly. If your clipper is losing power mid-cut or no longer holding a charge, this is the battery that fits.

  • ChromStyle and Super Cordless 1872 fitment: These models share the same 3.6V cell format, connector pinout, and BMS handshake — one battery covers the full range. No adapter or wiring modification needed.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the 1871 chassis and confirmed the BMS accepted the charge curve without triggering a protection fault. Discharge held stable voltage through the full motor cycle.
  • Charging port care for the 1871: After cleaning the clipper under running water, shake out the port and let it air-dry for at least 30 minutes before docking. Moisture bridging the charging contacts trips a BMS protection fault the device reports as a dead battery — not a charging error.

Motor speed dropping on the ChromStyle before the low-battery indicator lights

Ni-MH cells show voltage sag under motor load before the cell voltage drops far enough to trigger the on-device indicator. The ChromStyle motor draws a current spike at startup and again under resistance through thicker hair. An aged cell can't sustain the voltage rail through that spike, so motor speed drops while the indicator still reads normal. A new cell with healthy internal resistance restores the flat voltage curve the motor needs. If speed drops noticeably on thick sections but the indicator shows above half, the cell is the cause.

Capacity fade after months of daily top-up charging

Ni-MH chemistry is sensitive to shallow cycling. Charging the clipper daily from 80% instead of running it down causes the cell to lose usable capacity over time — the indicator drifts, and the clipper seems to cut out early for no clear reason. Once this pattern is set, no amount of charging recovers the lost capacity. Replacing the cell and switching to a full discharge-then-charge cycle about once a week resets the baseline and keeps the indicator accurate.

Frequently Asked Questions

My ChromStyle 1871 docked overnight but won't turn on — is the charger broken or is it the battery?

If the dock light comes on but the clipper still won't power up, the BMS in the battery has likely tripped into protection mode — this happens when the cell voltage drops below the recovery threshold from deep discharge. The dock sees a connection but can't push enough current into a BMS-locked cell to restart the charge cycle. Try leaving it on the dock for 90 minutes undisturbed; some BMS units self-reset once trickle current is detected. If it still won't respond, the cell is the fault — not the dock.

The ChromStyle gets noticeably warm during a full grooming session — is that normal?

Some warmth is expected — the motor and the Ni-MH cell both generate heat during discharge inside a compact housing with limited airflow. It becomes a problem when the housing is hot to the touch rather than warm, or when the clipper cuts out suddenly mid-use. Sudden cutout under heat points to a BMS thermal protection trip, which means the cell's internal resistance has climbed high enough to generate excess heat under load. Replace the cell and check that the ventilation slots on the housing aren't blocked by hair debris.

The charging indicator on my ChromStyle shows full but the clipper cuts out after a short time — what's causing that?

This is indicator drift from a degraded cell — the on-device gauge reads voltage, not true remaining capacity, and an aged Ni-MH cell holds surface voltage well even when usable capacity is low. The indicator shows full because resting voltage looks correct, but the cell collapses under motor load within minutes of use. No charge cycle fixes this once the cell has degraded this far. Fit a new 1871-7590 cell and run it through two full discharge-charge cycles to calibrate the indicator back to accurate.
