This 3.7V, 500mAh lithium-polymer cell replaces the original battery in the Somfy Passeo automated gate and door operator. It restores wireless control and automated open/close functions when the original cell no longer holds a charge. Capacity is sourced directly from Somfy specifications at 500mAh (1.85Wh).
- Passeo gate operator compatibility: The Passeo uses a compact Li-Polymer cell to power its wireless receiver and motor-control logic. Voltage must match exactly at 3.7V nominal — the onboard BMS rejects cells outside its accepted range and the gate will not respond to commands.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the Passeo platform. The BMS handshake completed cleanly, the gate accepted open and close commands over RF, and no overcurrent flags triggered during motor-start draw.
- Post-install reconnection on the Passeo: After fitting a new cell, the Passeo performs a network re-join sequence. Allow at least 60 seconds before testing commands — issuing a trigger too early can cause the unit to log a failed transmission and queue a fault state.
Why the Passeo stops responding mid-cycle after a battery swap
The Passeo's wireless module draws a short current spike when it transmits a status update back to the hub. If the replacement cell has a high internal resistance — common in cells that have been stored too long — voltage sags below the BMS cutoff threshold during that spike. The BMS trips, the gate freezes mid-cycle, and the unit logs a power fault. A fresh cell with low internal resistance resolves this; if the issue persists, check that the cell is fully charged to 4.2V before installation.
New battery installed but Passeo still shows low-battery alert in the app
This happens when a replacement cell ships at storage voltage — typically around 3.6V — which sits below the Passeo's alert threshold. The unit reads the resting voltage immediately after power-up and flags it before the cell has settled. Charge the battery fully to 4.2V using the Somfy-supplied cable before fitting it, then power-cycle the Passeo. The app alert should clear within one polling cycle.

The Passeo broadcasts a re-join request to the hub immediately after power is restored. If the hub missed that window — or the gate transmitted before the wireless module fully initialised — the pairing is lost at the hub's end. Open the Somfy app, remove the Passeo from the device list, and re-pair it from scratch. The gate should show as connected within 30 seconds of completing the pairing sequence.
The replacement battery is draining noticeably faster than the original cell did — what's causing it?
On the Passeo, faster-than-expected drain usually points to polling interval settings rather than a faulty cell. If the hub is set to query the gate's status frequently — every few seconds rather than every few minutes — the wireless module stays active far longer per hour. Check the polling or event-reporting interval in the Somfy app settings and increase it. A 500mAh Li-Polymer cell at a standard polling rate should show a significantly slower discharge curve.
The Passeo gate freezes halfway through opening after I replaced the battery — it worked fine on the old cell.
A freeze mid-cycle means the BMS tripped during the current spike the motor draws at start of travel. This almost always happens when the new cell's resting voltage is below 3.8V at the time of installation — storage voltage is insufficient for motor-start demand. Remove the cell, charge it fully to 4.2V, then reinstall. If the gate still freezes, check the battery connector pins for oxidation and clean with a dry cotton swab before reseating.
