Fits Ember Mug 2 and replaces OEM part INR18650 MH1-2S1P battery pack.
Delivers 7.4V at 3500mAh—sufficient voltage to power the heating element and temperature sensor without voltage sag.
Uses dual 18650 cell configuration in series with flat-top connector and polarity-marked slot orientation.
Tested on bench load matching heating cycle draw; BMS accepted charge cycle without cutoff or thermal drift.
Charge the mug fully before first use after battery installation—the heating element draws peak current at startup and firmware requires a calibration cycle from full charge to set accurate temperature control.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Ember Mug 2 — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (INR18650 MH1-2S1P)

This is a 7.4V, 3500mAh Li-ion battery pack for the Ember Mug 2. It fits the 2S1P cell configuration the Mug 2 uses to power its heating element and temperature sensor. Install this when your mug no longer holds a charge or can't sustain its set temperature.

  • Ember Mug 2 compatibility: The Mug 2 uses a 7.4V two-cell series pack with a dedicated BMS that monitors cell balance and temperature during heating cycles. This replacement matches that voltage rail and BMS handshake — the firmware won't activate the heater without the correct cell count and voltage signal.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through full heat cycles on the Mug 2. The BMS held cell balance within spec under heater load, and the temperature sensor received a stable voltage throughout. No mid-cycle cutoffs occurred during testing.
  • Post-install charge cycle: After fitting this battery, charge the mug to 100% before first use. The Mug 2 firmware runs a calibration pass from full charge — skipping this causes the temperature control loop to read thermostat targets inaccurately on the first few cycles.

Why the Mug 2 stops heating before reaching your set temperature

The Mug 2's heating element draws a sustained high current to reach and hold temperature. As a Li-ion pack ages, internal resistance climbs — under heater load, voltage sags below the threshold the BMS needs to keep the element active. The mug may show a full charge indicator but still cut heating short. A replacement pack with low internal resistance restores the sustained voltage the heater circuit requires.

Mug 2 not reconnecting to the Ember app after battery replacement

A complete power interruption — which a battery swap causes — clears the mug's active Bluetooth pairing state. The Ember app treats this as an unknown device rather than a known mug. Open the app, remove the mug from your device list, then hold the mug's button for five seconds to enter pairing mode. Re-add it as a new device to restore full app control.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Ember Mug 2 shows a full charge but the drink goes cold after a few minutes — why?

This is voltage sag under heater load, not a charge indicator fault. As a Li-ion pack degrades, internal resistance rises — the pack reads "full" at rest but can't deliver the sustained current the heating element needs. Under load, voltage drops below the BMS cutoff and the heater shuts off early. Replacing the battery pack restores the low internal resistance the heater circuit depends on.

My Mug 2 battery drains far faster than it used to — is the heating element drawing too much?

The heating element is a constant high-current load, and it accounts for nearly all of the battery draw during active use. What changes over time is cell capacity fade — after several hundred charge cycles, the 3500mAh rating drops significantly, so the same heater demand empties the pack much faster. Capacity fade is irreversible in a degraded cell; a new pack at full rated capacity is the fix. Check the Ember app's battery percentage drop over a ten-minute heat cycle to confirm the rate before replacing.

The Mug 2 shows inconsistent temperature — it overshoots and undershoots around my set point repeatedly. Could the battery cause this?

Yes. Voltage sag under heater load causes the thermostat's control loop to misread the heating element's output, so the firmware alternates between switching the heater on and off more aggressively than normal. The result is a temperature that oscillates rather than holding steady. This is distinct from a mug that won't heat at all — the heater is still firing, but the voltage instability disrupts the feedback loop. After fitting a new pack, charge fully to 100% and let the firmware complete one full heat cycle to re-stabilise the temperature control calibration.
