Fits Garmin Approach S10, Approach S20, and Forerunner 35 smartwatches; replaces OEM part 361-00117-00.
3.7V, 180mAh lithium-polymer cell delivers the voltage and capacity this GPS watch requires for multi-day runtime.
Connector is a two-pin header; seat the battery flat against the housing with the connector oriented toward the mainboard.
We bench-tested this cell in an Approach S10; the BMS accepted the new pack on first charge without fault codes.
After fitting the new cell, place the watch on its magnetic charger immediately and charge to 100% before use — the fuel gauge IC cannot calibrate without a full charge cycle from near-zero after a battery swap.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Garmin Approach S10 / Forerunner 35 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (361-00117-00)

This is a 3.7V, 180mAh lithium-polymer cell that replaces the original battery in the Garmin Approach S10, Approach S20, and Forerunner 35. All three watches share the same cell format, OEM part number, and connector. Dimensions are 29.00 × 19.42 × 3.38mm — confirm clearance before ordering if your unit has any aftermarket housing.

  • Approach S10, S20, and Forerunner 35 compatibility: These three models share the same PCB layout, JST connector pitch, and battery bay dimensions. Garmin used the same cell across the platform, so one part number covers all three without any modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell on a Forerunner 35 and confirmed the BMS handshake completed correctly — the watch powered on, accepted a charge, and the fuel gauge IC initialised without error flags.
  • Fuel gauge calibration after swap: After fitting this cell, place the watch on its magnetic charger immediately and charge to 100% before first use. The fuel gauge IC on these Garmin platforms loses its reference point when the cell is disconnected. Without a full charge cycle from near-zero post-swap, the percentage readout will be inaccurate for days.

Why GPS and continuous tracking drain a 180mAh cell faster than you expect

The Approach S10 runs active GPS acquisition at roughly 25–30mA draw — a significant load on a 180mAh cell. When GPS is active simultaneously with course mapping and step tracking, the battery sees near-peak current continuously. That is by design for a golf round, not a defect. Avoid leaving GPS mode running between holes or in the clubhouse, as the radio stays active until explicitly ended.

Magnetic charge contacts not making connection after reassembly

If the watch shows no charging indicator when placed on its magnetic charger after a battery swap, the rear case has likely shifted fractionally during reassembly, misaligning the charge contacts. Remove the watch from the charger, inspect the two contact points on the case back for debris or adhesive residue, and reseat firmly. If the gap persists, loosen the case screws by a quarter turn, reposition the rear cover flush, then re-tighten and test. The charger LED should respond within 10 seconds of correct contact.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Garmin Approach S10 shows 0% and won't turn on right after I put the new battery in — did I get a dead cell?

The cell is almost certainly fine. The fuel gauge IC in these Garmin watches loses its voltage reference when the original cell is disconnected, so after a swap it reports 0% regardless of actual charge state. Place the watch on its magnetic charger and leave it until the display confirms 100% — do not interrupt the charge. Once that full cycle completes, the IC recalibrates and the percentage readout will be accurate.

The new battery drains completely in one day — the old one lasted several days even when it was degraded. What's wrong?

Check whether GPS mode is still running in the background. On the Forerunner 35 and Approach S10, ending an activity does not always terminate the GPS radio — navigate to Activities and confirm the session is fully stopped. Also check the backlight timeout setting; these watches default to longer display-on durations after a factory reset, which can happen if power was fully lost during the swap. Set backlight timeout to 8 seconds and GPS to activity-only, then monitor over 48 hours.

After replacing the battery, my Forerunner 35 won't pair with my phone — it shows up in Bluetooth but the Garmin Connect app says the device is offline.

Removing the battery ends the active BLE session, and the watch and phone retain mismatched pairing keys afterward. On the watch, go to Settings → Phone → Forget Phone, then on your phone delete the Garmin device from Bluetooth settings entirely. Reopen Garmin Connect, select Add Device, and run a fresh pair. Do not attempt to reconnect through the phone's Bluetooth menu alone — the app must initiate the pairing sequence for the session tokens to reset correctly.
