Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Garmin Forerunner 955 Solar — 3.85V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (361-00146-00)
This is a 3.85V, 220mAh lithium-polymer cell for the Garmin Forerunner 955 Solar GPS sports watch. It replaces OEM part 361-00146-00 and fits the 955 Solar variant specifically. Swap it in when the original cell no longer holds charge through a training session or multi-day tracking period.
- Forerunner 955 Solar fitment: The 955 Solar runs a tighter internal cavity than the standard 955 — the 28.60 × 21.80 × 3.50mm cell dimensions matter here. This cell matches that footprint and the flex-connector tab orientation used on the 955 Solar board.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through a full charge and GPS-active discharge on the 955 Solar platform. The BMS handshake completed cleanly, and the fuel gauge IC registered a full 220mAh reference after one complete charge cycle from near-zero.
- Post-swap charge requirement: After fitting this cell, place the watch on its magnetic charger immediately and run it to 100% before use. The fuel gauge IC on this platform loses its calibration reference when the cell is removed — it cannot recalibrate without a full charge cycle from near-zero. Skip this step and the percentage readout will be inaccurate from day one.
Why solar charging affects cell voltage behaviour on the 955
The 955 Solar feeds harvested solar current through a charge controller that tops up the cell in small, variable increments throughout the day. A new cell with a fresh anode surface accepts this trickle differently than a degraded original — expect the charge percentage to fluctuate slightly during outdoor sessions in the first week. This is the charge controller adjusting to the new cell's impedance, not a fault. After four to five full charge-discharge cycles, the controller stabilises and the readout steadies.
Watch not pairing to phone after battery replacement
Removing the cell cuts power to the BLE radio stack entirely, which clears the active pairing session stored in volatile memory. The Garmin Connect app still shows the watch as paired on the phone side, but the watch itself has lost the bond. Go into the Garmin Connect app, remove the device, then use the watch's Bluetooth settings to initiate a fresh pair. The watch needs to be powered on and sitting at the pairing screen — not just unlocked — before the app will detect it.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Forerunner 955 Solar shows 0% and won't turn on right after I fitted the new battery — is the cell dead?
The fuel gauge IC lost its calibration reference when the old cell was removed. It has no charge baseline for the new cell and defaults to zero. Place the watch on its magnetic charger immediately and leave it until the watch reports 100% — do not power it on mid-charge. After one full charge cycle from near-zero, the IC recalibrates and the percentage readout becomes accurate.
The new battery is draining in under a day — the original used to last several days. What's wrong?
Check whether always-on display mode is active and whether continuous heart rate monitoring is running. Both features are current-heavy on this platform, and the 955 Solar's 220mAh cell is sized assuming the solar panel contributes meaningfully during outdoor use. If you're indoors or in overcast conditions, solar input drops to near zero and these features pull the cell down fast. Turn off always-on display and set heart rate to smart mode — that alone cuts draw significantly on this cell size.
The magnetic charger clicks into place but the charging icon never appears on the 955 Solar after the swap — why?
The charge contacts on the watch back need to sit flush against the charger pins. During reassembly, the rear cover can shift slightly, misaligning the contact pads by a fraction of a millimetre — enough to break the circuit. Remove the watch from the charger, inspect the rear contact pads for any adhesive residue or debris from the swap, then re-seat the watch firmly on the charger. If the icon still doesn't appear, check that the cell flex connector is fully pressed into the board socket — a partially seated connector prevents charge current from flowing at all.
