Fits Garmin Vivoactive 3 and Vivoactive 3 Music smartwatches, replacing OEM battery part number 361-00108-00 and 361-00108-01.
This 3.7V, 160mAh lithium-polymer cell restores multi-day runtime to the watch for GPS navigation, continuous heart rate monitoring, and fitness tracking.
Connector is a two-pin pogo contact pad; battery seats flat against the case and locks with a single plastic retention clip on the motherboard side.
We bench-tested this cell in a Vivoactive 3 unit; the fuel gauge IC initialized correctly after a full charge cycle from powered-off state.
After inserting the new cell, charge the watch to 100% immediately before wearing — the fuel gauge cannot calibrate capacity reference without a complete charge cycle from near-zero after a swap.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Garmin Vivoactive 3 / Vivoactive 3 Music — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (361-00108-00)

This is a 3.7V, 160mAh lithium-polymer cell replacing OEM part 361-00108-00 (also cross-references 361-00108-01). It fits the Garmin Vivoactive 3 and Vivoactive 3 Music smartwatches. Dimensions are 22.50 × 20.50 × 4.50mm — measure your original cell before ordering if your unit has been previously serviced.

  • Vivoactive 3 and Vivoactive 3 Music compatibility: Both models share the same battery bay geometry, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The Music variant draws slightly more current during Bluetooth audio streaming, but the cell specification is identical across both platforms.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge acceptance, BMS communication, and GPS lock sequences on a Vivoactive 3 unit. The BMS recognised the cell without fault codes, and the fuel gauge IC updated state-of-charge correctly after one full charge cycle.
  • Post-swap charging requirement: After fitting this cell, place the watch on its magnetic charger immediately and charge fully to 100% before first use. The fuel gauge IC on the Vivoactive 3 loses its charge reference during cell removal — it cannot calibrate accurately without a complete charge cycle starting from near-zero.

Why the Vivoactive 3 reports incorrect battery percentage after a cell swap

The Vivoactive 3 uses a coulomb-counting fuel gauge IC that tracks charge relative to a stored baseline. When the original cell is removed, that baseline is lost. The IC then estimates state-of-charge from the new cell's open-circuit voltage, which is rarely precise at rest. This causes the watch to report inflated or deflated percentages — sometimes jumping from 80% to 20% mid-use — until the IC re-establishes its reference through a full 0-to-100% charge cycle.

Magnetic charge contacts not connecting after reassembly

If the watch fails to register on its magnetic charger after battery replacement, the most common cause is the rear case shifting slightly during reassembly, misaligning the charging contacts. Remove the rear cover, reseat it firmly and evenly, then reattach. Check that no adhesive or debris is sitting on the contact pads — clean with isopropyl alcohol if needed. The charger LED should illuminate within 10 seconds of correct contact; if it does not, recheck alignment before assuming a cell fault.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Vivoactive 3 shows 0% and won't turn on right after I put the new battery in — is the cell dead?

The cell is almost certainly fine. When you remove the original battery, the fuel gauge IC loses its charge reference entirely and can read the new cell's open-circuit voltage as near-zero. Connect the watch to its magnetic charger straight away and leave it charging for a full cycle to 100%. The IC will re-calibrate during that charge, and the watch should power on normally well before it reaches full charge.

The new battery is draining in a single day — my old one used to last several days. What's wrong?

Check whether always-on display mode is active and whether continuous wrist heart rate monitoring is enabled — both run constantly and together they can reduce a 160mAh cell to a fraction of its rated endurance. GPS sessions compound this further. On a fresh cell the first few cycles can also show higher drain while the BMS settles its charge accounting. Disable always-on display and set heart rate monitoring to "Smart" rather than continuous, then re-test over 48 hours.

The watch won't reconnect to my phone via Bluetooth after the battery swap — pairing keeps failing.

Removing the battery clears the active BLE session and can corrupt the pairing record on the watch side. On the Vivoactive 3, go to Settings → Phone → Pair Phone and select "Forget" before attempting to re-pair. On your phone, remove the Garmin device from Bluetooth settings entirely. Then restart both devices and initiate a fresh pair through the Garmin Connect app — do not use the phone's Bluetooth menu to start the pairing process.
