Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 40mm / SM-R880 — 3.88V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (EB-BR880ABE)
This 3.88V, 240mAh Li-Polymer cell replaces the original battery in the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 40mm, SM-R880, SM-R880N, and SM-R885. It restores power to the watch's display, heart rate sensor, activity tracking, and notification functions. Capacity is 240mAh (0.93Wh), matching the original cell specification.
- SM-R880 / SM-R885 platform fit: These models share the same 3.88V cell format, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol. The fuel gauge IC on all variants reads state-of-charge from the same register set, so this cell slots in without firmware conflict.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the SM-R880 platform. The BMS accepted the new cell without triggering a protection cutoff, and the fuel gauge re-calibrated correctly after a full charge cycle from near-zero.
- Post-swap charge requirement: After fitting this cell, place the watch on its magnetic charger immediately and charge to 100% before use. The fuel gauge IC loses its state-of-charge reference during a cell swap and cannot set an accurate baseline without one full charge cycle from near-zero.
Why the SM-R880 fuel gauge reads incorrectly after a cell swap
The Galaxy Watch 4 uses a coulomb-counting fuel gauge IC that tracks charge by integrating current over time from a known reference point. When the original cell is removed, that reference is lost entirely. The IC does not automatically reset — it resumes counting from whatever value was stored in non-volatile memory. A full charge cycle from near-zero forces the IC to re-anchor its 100% and 0% endpoints against the new cell's actual capacity, correcting percentage readings across the full range.
Watch not pairing to the Galaxy app after battery replacement
Removing the battery during a swap terminates the active BLE session between the watch and the paired phone. The Galaxy Wearable app holds the previous session key and will not automatically re-establish a connection after power is restored. On the watch, go to Settings → General → Reset, then open the Galaxy Wearable app on the phone and select Add new device. Re-pairing takes under two minutes and restores all notification and health sync functions.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Galaxy Watch 4 shows 0% and won't turn on right after I put the new battery in — did I get a dead cell?
The cell is almost certainly fine. The fuel gauge IC on the SM-R880 loses its charge reference the moment the old battery is disconnected, and it can report 0% even when the new cell has a partial charge. Place the watch on its magnetic charger immediately after reassembly and leave it until it reaches 100%. The gauge re-calibrates during that first full cycle, and normal percentage readings will follow.
The new battery drains completely within a day — my old one lasted two or three days even when it was degraded.
A single-day drain almost always comes from always-on display combined with continuous heart rate monitoring running simultaneously. Both were likely off or set to less frequent sampling on your previous worn-out cell because the watch auto-throttled sensors to protect the low-capacity battery. With a new cell, the watch runs all sensors at full rate again. Go to Watch Settings → Display and set the screen to raise-to-wake only, then set heart rate monitoring to every 10 minutes — that combination cuts active draw significantly.
The magnetic charger isn't registering the watch after I reassembled it — the charging indicator never appears.
The charge contacts on the watch back sit on a small raised ring, and if the rear cover shifted even slightly during reassembly, those contacts miss the charger's pogo pins. Remove the watch from the charger, inspect the rear for any gap or tilt in the back cover, and reseat it firmly until flush. Then re-align the charger — the magnetic click should centre it directly over the contact ring. If the indicator still doesn't appear, check that the adhesive gasket hasn't folded over the contact pads.
