Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

JBL Boombox Series — 7.4V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (GSP0931134 01)
This 7.4V, 10000mAh (74Wh) lithium-polymer battery replaces the original pack in the JBL Boombox portable Bluetooth speaker. It fits JEM3316, JEM3317, and JEM3318 units using OEM part number GSP0931134 01. Install it when the original cell no longer holds a charge or causes the speaker to shut down during playback.
- Boombox JEM3316 / JEM3317 / JEM3318 fit: All three variants share the same 7.4V cell configuration, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol, which is why one part number covers the entire first-generation Boombox platform.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through full charge and discharge on a JEM3316 unit. The BMS balanced both cells cleanly and the fuel gauge reported accurate state-of-charge throughout the discharge curve without premature low-battery warnings.
- Monthly discharge discipline for Boombox users: If the speaker sits on a shelf between uses and gets topped off before dropping below 50%, the fuel gauge drifts within a few months. Run it below 20% at least once a month before recharging to keep the gas gauge calibrated and slow capacity fade on the Li-Polymer cells.
Audio distortion before the battery indicator reaches empty
As a Li-Polymer cell ages, its internal resistance rises. Under heavy amplifier draw — especially at high volume — terminal voltage sags below what the amplifier rail needs before the fuel gauge shows critical. The amp clips the signal instead of shutting down cleanly, so you hear distortion while the LED still shows two bars. This is not a speaker fault. A fresh cell with lower internal resistance restores the flat voltage curve the amplifier expects. After fitting the replacement, run one full discharge at moderate volume to let the BMS recalibrate the gauge.
Boombox won't wake from USB-C charging after sitting unused for months
A deeply discharged Li-Polymer pack can fall below the USB-C Power Delivery minimum acceptance voltage — typically under 2.5V per cell — and the charger handshake never completes. The speaker appears completely dead even with the cable connected. Try a 5V 500mA source rather than a high-wattage PD charger; the lower voltage can trickle enough current past the BMS protection circuit to bring the cell back into the normal acceptance window. Once the indicator blinks, switch to the standard charger and complete a full charge before powering the speaker on.

Frequently Asked Questions
My JBL Boombox shows a full charge indicator but the audio drops out after about an hour of use — is the battery failing?
Yes, this is fuel gauge drift, not a speaker fault. When a Li-Polymer pack is shallow-cycled repeatedly — topped off before it drops below 50% — the BMS loses track of true capacity, so the indicator reads full while the actual charge is far lower. Fit the replacement pack and run two full discharge cycles from 100% down to auto-shutoff before recharging. That resets the gas gauge to the new cell's real capacity baseline.
The Boombox cuts out or Bluetooth disconnects only when volume is at maximum — it works fine at lower levels. What's happening?
At maximum volume, the amplifier and Bluetooth radio draw current simultaneously at their peak. If the battery's internal resistance is high enough, combined load causes a voltage sag that trips the BMS under-voltage protection momentarily — the speaker reboots or the radio drops while the amp spike clears. A new cell with lower internal resistance holds the voltage rail stable under that combined draw. After fitting the replacement, test at full volume for 10 minutes; if dropout persists, check that the battery connector is fully seated.
The Boombox speaker housing gets noticeably warm during extended play even with the new battery — should I be concerned?
Some warmth is expected. The Class D amplifier inside the Boombox generates heat during long sessions, and the battery itself releases heat as it discharges — both sources are trapped in the fabric-covered enclosure. What to watch for is heat concentrated at the battery compartment rather than spread evenly across the base; localised hotspots near the cell suggest a high-resistance connection at the connector. Check that the battery connector clicks fully into place and that no tab is bent. Surface temperature across the base should stay below 45°C during normal extended play.
