Fits Philips Fidelio B5 and B5/12 models, replacing OEM part 104050-2S.
7.4V and 2500mAh capacity matches the original Li-Polymer cell for full speaker runtime per charge cycle.
Connector seats flush into the battery compartment with a single locking tab — orientation is keyed to prevent reverse insertion.
We bench-tested the BMS on a Fidelio B5 charger; the cell accepted full charge in under three hours with no fault codes.
On first use with the Fidelio B5, discharge the battery fully before the second charge — shallow cycling from constant top-offs accelerates capacity fade on this Li-Polymer chemistry.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Philips Fidelio B5 Series — 7.4V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (104050-2S)

This is a 7.4V, 2500mAh Li-Polymer replacement battery for the Philips Fidelio B5, B5/12, HTL9100, and HTL9300 portable wireless speakers. It matches the OEM cell format at 53.42 x 38.90 x 20.00mm and slots into the original housing without modification. When the stock cell starts losing charge quickly or stops holding power altogether, this is the direct swap.

  • Fidelio B5 and HTL series compatibility: These models share the same 7.4V battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol. The 104050-2S cell format fits all listed variants without adapter cables or housing trimming.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the Fidelio B5. The onboard BMS accepted the battery without error flags, balanced both cells correctly, and held stable voltage through full audio output loads at the amplifier stage.
  • Monthly discharge routine for the Fidelio B5: These speakers sit plugged in at desks or beside TVs and rarely drop below 70% before recharging. Do a full discharge to under 20% at least once a month — this recalibrates the fuel gauge and slows cell degradation from shallow cycling.

Fidelio B5 showing full charge but audio cuts out after an hour

This happens when the fuel gauge has drifted after months of shallow top-off charging. The speaker reports a high state of charge, but the actual cell capacity is far lower than the reading. The BMS hits its low-voltage cutoff earlier than expected and shuts the amplifier down. Replacing the cell resets the baseline — the new cell and a full charge-discharge cycle will re-sync the gauge reading to actual capacity.

Audio distorts before the battery indicator shows empty

At high playback volume, the amplifier stage draws a sharp current spike. If the cell is aged and its internal resistance has increased, voltage sags under that load before the indicator drops to critical. The amplifier clips because it cannot sustain rail voltage, producing audible distortion. A fresh cell with lower internal resistance holds voltage above the 6.0V sag threshold even at peak draw, eliminating the clipping.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Fidelio B5 charges to full overnight but cuts out after about an hour of play — why?

The cell's state-of-charge gauge has drifted from repeated shallow charging without full discharge cycles. The speaker reports full, but the actual usable capacity is much lower than the reading. The BMS hits its low-voltage protection cutoff well before the indicator reaches empty. Replace the cell and run one complete charge-to-discharge cycle to re-sync the fuel gauge.

Bluetooth drops or stutters at high volume on my Fidelio B5 — is this a battery issue?

Yes, and it's a specific one. At loud output, the amplifier and Bluetooth radio pull current simultaneously, creating a combined spike the aged cell can't supply without voltage sagging. When voltage dips below the radio module's minimum threshold, the Bluetooth link drops or stutters. A new 2500mAh cell with lower internal resistance sustains the rail voltage above that threshold — check that the replacement reads at least 7.2V under load before closing the housing.

My Fidelio B5 gets noticeably warm during long listening sessions — is the new battery overheating?

Some warmth is normal. The amplifier generates heat during sustained output, and the Li-Polymer cell adds a small amount of its own discharge heat. Both are trapped in the fabric housing. If the speaker is too hot to hold comfortably, check that the replacement cell is seated flat with no pressure on the soft polymer casing — a pinched or kinked cell increases internal resistance and generates more heat. A correctly seated cell at 7.4V nominal should stay warm to the touch, not hot.
