Fits Sony GTK-XB90 portable speaker; replaces OEM part 1-853-679-11 and LIP6332HNPC battery pack.
21.6V 3-cell lithium-ion at 2600mAh delivers the amp current needed for wireless audio without voltage sag at volume.
Connector slides straight into the battery slot with a single locking tab; no force required on insertion or removal.
We bench-tested this pack on GTK-XB90 circuitry; BMS accepted full charge cycle without fault codes or thermal throttle.
On this speaker, discharge below 20% at least once monthly before recharging — constant top-off charging causes fuel gauge drift and accelerates capacity fade.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sony GTK-XB90 — 21.6V Li-ion Replacement Battery (1-853-679-11)

This is a 21.6V 2600mAh (56.16Wh) Li-ion replacement battery for the Sony GTK-XB90 portable Bluetooth party speaker. It fits directly in place of OEM part 1-853-679-11 (also cross-referenced as LIP6332HNPC). Replace it when your GTK-XB90 no longer holds a charge or shuts down mid-session.

  • GTK-XB90 compatibility: The GTK-XB90 uses a multi-cell Li-ion pack at 21.6V nominal to drive both its Class-D amplifier and Bluetooth radio from a single source. This replacement matches that voltage rail and carries the same BMS handshake the speaker's charge controller expects.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on the GTK-XB90 platform. The BMS responded correctly to charge termination, cell balancing, and over-discharge cutoff without triggering fault states on the speaker's charge controller.
  • Monthly discharge cycle for GTK-XB90 users: Let the speaker run down below 20% at least once a month before recharging. The GTK-XB90 is often kept plugged in between events — constant top-off charging without a full discharge causes fuel gauge drift and accelerates capacity fade in the Li-ion cells.

Audio distortion before the GTK-XB90 battery indicator reaches empty

As the pack discharges toward its lower voltage threshold, the available current drops. The GTK-XB90's amplifier draws significant current at high volume, and when pack voltage sags under that load, the amp clips before the fuel gauge registers empty. The battery indicator reflects resting voltage, not loaded voltage — so the gauge can show two bars while the amplifier is already starved. If distortion appears consistently at the same volume level late in a session, the pack is sagging below roughly 18V under load and needs replacement.

GTK-XB90 warm to the touch during extended play sessions

The GTK-XB90 houses the battery directly beneath the amplifier stage inside a sealed fabric-wrapped enclosure. Heat from the amp and heat from the discharging Li-ion cells combine in a space with limited airflow. Mild warmth is normal, but if the cabinet becomes hot enough to feel uncomfortable through the fabric, the BMS thermal protection may throttle output or trigger a shutdown before the pack is empty. Keep the speaker off soft surfaces like sofas or carpets during long sessions — hard flat surfaces allow the base vents to breathe and reduce thermal buildup inside the housing.

Frequently Asked Questions

My GTK-XB90 shows a full charge but the audio cuts out after about an hour — is the battery the problem?

Yes, this is a classic symptom of a degraded Li-ion pack with reduced usable capacity. The fuel gauge reads resting voltage at the start of a session and reports full, but the actual energy stored in worn cells is far lower than rated. Under the combined draw of the amplifier and Bluetooth radio, the pack hits the BMS low-voltage cutoff well before the indicator drops to empty. Replace the pack and verify the battery indicator tracks consistently through a full discharge cycle.

Bluetooth keeps dropping on my GTK-XB90 when I push the volume past halfway — it reconnects immediately but keeps cutting out.

This is a current-sag issue, not a Bluetooth fault. At high volume, the GTK-XB90's amplifier pulls a large current spike. A degraded or weak pack can't sustain voltage under that spike, and the momentary voltage sag starves the Bluetooth radio's power rail long enough to drop the connection. The radio reconnects as soon as the load eases. If the drops happen consistently at high volume and disappear at lower levels, the pack can no longer handle combined amplifier and radio draw — swap the battery and retest at full volume.

My GTK-XB90 won't wake up from USB charging after I let it fully drain — the charge light doesn't come on at all.

When a Li-ion pack discharges deeply below its minimum acceptance voltage, the BMS locks the pack to protect the cells, and USB-C PD controllers will not initiate a charge handshake below that threshold. Leave the charger connected for 15–30 minutes without pressing any buttons — some BMS circuits will trickle-charge the cells enough to re-enable normal charging. If no charge indicator appears after 30 minutes, the cells have dropped too low for recovery and the pack needs replacement before the speaker will accept a charge again.
