Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Orgapack OR-T650 — 36V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This 36V 4000mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original pack in the Orgapack OR-T650 electric strapping tool. The OR-T650 is a portable battery-powered strapper used in logistics, warehousing, and packaging lines to tension and seal plastic or steel strapping tape. Voltage and capacity match the original specification exactly.

  • OR-T650 platform fit: The OR-T650 runs a 36V motor circuit with a BMS handshake that monitors cell voltage under tensioning load. This pack uses the same cell configuration and connector pinout, so the tool's onboard electronics recognise it without recalibration.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through full tensioning cycles on the OR-T650, monitoring BMS response at peak motor draw. The pack held stable voltage through the tension-and-weld sequence without triggering low-voltage cutoff.
  • Cold warehouse use: If the tool operates in a refrigerated or unheated warehouse, bring the battery above 10°C before the first tensioning cycle. Cold cells have higher internal resistance — the OR-T650 motor draws a sharp current spike at maximum tension, and a cold pack below that threshold will trip the BMS mid-cycle.

BMS cutoff during the tensioning cycle on the OR-T650

The OR-T650 motor peaks sharply at maximum strap tension — this is the highest single current draw in the tool's operating sequence. If the battery's BMS detects cell voltage drop below its cutoff threshold at that moment, it shuts the pack down instantly. This is not a tool fault; it is the BMS protecting the cells from over-discharge under surge load. A fully charged pack above 36V nominal should clear this threshold through the tensioning cycle without cutoff.

Charger fault light on a new pack after the tool has been stored unused

Li-ion cells discharge slowly in storage, and if a pack sits long enough, cell voltage drops below the charger's acceptance threshold — typically around 2.5V per cell. The charger sees a voltage it does not recognise as safe to charge and throws a fault instead of starting a charge cycle. To recover the pack, check that the charger contacts are clean and seated firmly, then hold the pack on charge for up to 10 minutes — many chargers will re-attempt acceptance once the cells tick above 2.8V per cell. If the fault persists past that point, the pack has self-discharged past recovery.

Frequently Asked Questions

The OR-T650 suddenly stops mid-tension and won't finish the cycle — what's happening?

This is a BMS trip caused by the voltage spike the motor pulls at peak tension load. The BMS cuts power to protect the cells the moment voltage sags past its cutoff threshold. Check that the battery contacts on both the tool and the pack are clean and making solid contact — dirty contacts add resistance and push the voltage drop over the edge. Fully charge the pack to 36V nominal before the next run.

Tensioning force feels weaker than it was with the original battery — is that a battery issue?

Yes, and the cause is usually voltage sag under peak motor draw rather than actual capacity loss. High contact resistance between the battery terminals and tool connector is the most common culprit — clean both contact surfaces with a dry cloth, reseat the pack firmly, and retest. If sag continues after cleaning, check the resting voltage of the pack; it should read at or above 36V after a full charge before load is applied.

We're getting fewer completed strapping cycles per charge than we'd expect — what drains this battery faster than the rated capacity suggests?

Strapping tools pull significantly higher average current in real use than standard battery rating conditions assume, because every tensioning cycle hits a sharp current peak at maximum strap load. A single tight tension-and-weld on heavy strapping can consume more energy than several lighter cycles. Running the OR-T650 on heavy-gauge strap or at maximum tension settings will reduce the number of cycles per charge compared to lighter-duty use. Count cycles per charge relative to your actual strap type and tension setting, not against a generic cycle count.
