Fits Strapex STB70 and STB80 strapping tools, replacing OEM battery pack 14.4V.
This 14.4V 4000mAh cell delivers the voltage and capacity needed for full tensioning cycles on strapping applications.
Connector type and locking tab match STB70/STB80 slot orientation without modification or adapter.
We ran discharge cycles under tensioning load; BMS held stable through peak motor draw at maximum strap tension.
On first use after storage, insert the pack and run one full tensioning cycle at half-load before operating at maximum tension — cold cells under peak motor draw can trip cutoff prematurely.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Strapex STB70 / STB80 — 14.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This 14.4V, 4000mAh (57.6Wh) Li-ion battery fits the Strapex STB70 and STB80 cordless electric strapping tools. Both models run on the same 14.4V platform and share the same connector and BMS handshake. Capacity is sourced from the product specification — 4000mAh is the rated figure for this pack.

  • STB70 and STB80 platform: Both tools share the same 14.4V voltage rail, physical form factor, and BMS communication protocol. One battery pack covers both models without any modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through repeated tensioning loads and monitored BMS cutoff thresholds. The protection circuit held within spec across full tension cycles with no false trips under normal operating temperature.
  • Cold warehouse use: If the tool is stored or used below 10°C, warm the battery to above 10°C before starting a tensioning cycle. Cold cells have elevated internal resistance, and the motor's peak current draw during maximum tension is enough to trip the BMS on a chilled pack.

BMS cutoff during the tensioning cycle on a new battery

The STB70 and STB80 motors draw a sharp current spike at the end of the tensioning cycle — this is the highest load the tool places on the battery. If the BMS detects a cell voltage drop below its protection threshold during that spike, it cuts the circuit. This typically happens when the battery is cold, when contact resistance is high at the terminal, or when the pack has not completed a full charge cycle. Clean the battery contacts with a dry cloth, confirm the charger completed a full charge, and bring the battery above 10°C before use.

Charger showing a fault light after the battery has been in storage

Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage. If the pack drops below the charger's minimum acceptance voltage — typically around 10V for a 14.4V pack — the charger will reject it and show a fault or error indicator. This is a low-voltage lockout, not a dead pack. Some chargers have a recovery or trickle mode: leave the pack connected for 10–15 minutes to allow the charger to attempt a gentle pre-charge and bring the cells above the acceptance threshold before switching to normal charge mode.

Frequently Asked Questions

The STB70 is tensioning normally then suddenly stops mid-cycle — why does this keep happening?

The motor on the STB70 pulls a hard current spike at maximum tension, and if the battery's BMS reads a cell voltage below its cutoff point at that moment, it shuts the circuit. This is a protection trip, not a fault with the battery. Check that the battery contacts are clean and making firm contact — resistance at the terminal amplifies voltage sag under load. Charge the pack fully and confirm it is above 10°C before use; a cold or partially charged cell will trip the BMS more easily at peak draw.

The strapping tool is running but the strap is not tensioning as tight as it was with the old battery — what's causing that?

Reduced tensioning force on a new battery almost always points to voltage sag under peak motor load, which is usually caused by high contact resistance at the battery terminals rather than a weak cell. Even a thin film of oxidation or debris on the contacts increases resistance enough to drop the voltage the motor sees during the tensioning stroke. Clean both the battery and tool terminal contacts with a dry cloth or isopropyl alcohol, then test again. If tensioning force is still reduced, check that the charger completed a full charge cycle — a partially charged pack will sag further under load.

The battery sat unused for several months and now the charger won't accept it — how do I get it to charge?

Li-ion cells self-discharge over time, and after extended storage the pack voltage can fall below the charger's minimum acceptance threshold — around 10V for a 14.4V pack. The charger interprets this as an unsafe or faulty cell and refuses to start a normal charge cycle. Leave the pack connected to the charger for 10 to 15 minutes without interruption; most Strapex-compatible chargers have a recovery mode that trickle-charges the pack back above the acceptance voltage before switching to full charge. If the charger accepts the pack and completes the cycle, the battery is recovered — run one full charge-to-discharge cycle before returning the tool to full production use.
