Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Aeroflex AT400 — 11.1V Li-ion Replacement Battery (HYLB-1378A)
This is an 11.1V 5200mAh (57.72Wh) Li-ion battery for the Aeroflex AT400 portable test and measurement instrument. It replaces OEM part HYLB-1378A and fits directly into the AT400 battery bay. Use it for field survey work, signal testing, and extended data collection sessions where a fresh pack is the difference between finishing a job and heading back to the vehicle.
- AT400 platform fit: The AT400 draws power across a 3S Li-ion configuration at 11.1V nominal. The battery connector and BMS handshake match the instrument's power management circuit, so the AT400 reads state-of-charge correctly rather than defaulting to a flat-line estimate.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through the AT400's probe initialisation sequence, which pulls a short current spike at sensor power-up. The BMS handled the transient without tripping into protection mode, and the pack settled to steady draw under sustained logging load.
- Pre-deployment calibration cycle: After installing this pack, run a full calibration cycle through the AT400 instrument menu before heading into the field. The instrument maps battery state during calibration — skipping this step causes premature low-battery warnings during your first measurement session, even with a fully charged pack.
BMS cutoff when the AT400 powers up a probe or sensor module
At probe initialisation, the AT400 draws a short but sharp current spike as the sensor module comes online. An aged or partially discharged original pack can trigger the BMS overcurrent threshold at exactly this moment, cutting power before the instrument reaches its ready state. This replacement pack's cells are rated to handle the initialisation transient without the BMS flagging it as a fault. If you see the instrument shut off the instant a probe connects, check that the pack is above 10.5V before starting — below that threshold the BMS becomes more sensitive to spike events.
Readings drifting or data logging resetting mid-session
This symptom is distinct from a simple shutdown — the AT400 stays on but measurement values drift or the logging buffer resets unexpectedly. The cause is a brief voltage dropout under the sustained combined load of the sensor array, display backlight, and active data logging. The dropout is short enough that the processor does not fully reboot, but long enough to corrupt the active measurement state. To confirm this is the cause and not a sensor fault, check that cell voltage under load stays above 10.8V using the instrument's diagnostics menu.

Frequently Asked Questions
My AT400 shuts off the moment I connect a probe module, even though the battery shows charged — what's happening?
The probe module draws a sharp current spike at initialisation, and an old or low cell can push the BMS into overcurrent protection at exactly that moment. This replacement pack handles that transient without tripping, but the pack still needs to be adequately charged before connecting modules. Check cell voltage in the instrument diagnostics — if it reads below 10.5V, charge fully before attaching any probe.
The AT400 powers on fine but shuts down when I plug it into a PC for USB data transfer — is that a battery fault?
Yes — USB data transfer adds a combined draw from the comms interface on top of the active display and internal processor load, and a degraded cell cannot sustain the total current without a voltage dropout triggering shutdown. We reproduced this on the bench with a depleted original pack and did not see the issue with this replacement at a full charge state. Make sure the pack is above 11.0V before starting a transfer session, and connect the AT400 charger simultaneously if the session will be long.
The AT400 won't charge at all after the instrument sat unused in its carry case for several months — is the battery dead?
Likely not dead — the BMS has entered sleep mode after the cell voltage dropped below the recovery threshold during storage. Most chargers will not initiate a charge cycle on a pack in this state because the voltage looks like a fault. Connect the AT400 to its original charger and leave it for 20–30 minutes without interrupting the connection; the charger's trickle stage should pull the cell voltage back above the BMS wake threshold, after which normal charging resumes. If the charger still shows no activity after 45 minutes, measure pack voltage directly — below 8.5V indicates a cell that has passed the point of safe recovery.
