Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

JOSAM Truck Aligner II — 7.2V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (E-0603)
This is a 7.2V, 9000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the JOSAM Truck Aligner II wheel alignment system. It fits the measurement unit directly, using OEM part number E-0603. Capacity is rated at 64.8Wh — sourced to match the original cell configuration in the pack.
- Truck Aligner II compatibility: The Aligner II draws a consistent low-to-mid current load during sensor sweeps and angle calculations. The 7.2V Ni-MH cell stack matches the voltage rail the unit expects, and the BMS handshake does not require reprogramming on swap-in.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran the pack through a full charge-discharge cycle and monitored BMS cutoff behaviour during simulated sensor initialisation. Current draw at probe power-up stayed within BMS threshold — no spurious cutoff events recorded.
- Post-install calibration run: After fitting this pack, run a full calibration cycle through the Aligner II instrument menu before any live alignment session. The unit maps battery state during calibration — skipping this step causes premature low-battery warnings on the first measurement job.
BMS lockout after the Truck Aligner II sat unused in a carry case for months
Ni-MH packs self-discharge over storage. If the Aligner II sat for several months, the pack voltage may have dropped below the BMS recovery threshold — the BMS latches off and the unit shows no response when the power button is pressed. Connect the charger and leave it for at least 90 minutes before attempting to power on. Most BMS circuits on this cell type begin accepting charge again once input voltage is applied, even from a deeply discharged state. If the charger LED does not indicate charging within 10 minutes, disconnect and reconnect — this resets the charge controller's trickle-start logic.
Aligner II shuts off mid-measurement when stepping through angle readings
This is a voltage sag event, not a dead battery. When the Aligner II cycles through multiple sensor channels in sequence, current draw spikes briefly at each channel poll. An aged or partially charged pack sags below the unit's undervoltage cutoff during that spike, triggering an immediate shutdown. A fully charged new pack holds the voltage rail stable through those polling events. Charge the replacement pack to 100% before the first session and confirm the terminal voltage reads at or above 8.4V off the charger before powering the unit on.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Truck Aligner II powers on fine but shuts itself off the moment I start stepping through the sensor sweep — why does a new battery fix this?
Each sensor channel poll during a sweep draws a short current spike. An aged pack can't hold the voltage rail through those spikes and the unit hits its undervoltage cutoff, shutting down instantly. A fresh 9000mAh pack sustains the rail through repeated polling without sagging. Charge the new pack fully and confirm terminal voltage is at or above 8.4V before starting the sweep.
The Truck Aligner II won't charge at all after sitting in the van for three months — charger shows no activity.
Ni-MH cells self-discharge during storage, and if the pack dropped below the BMS recovery threshold the charge controller sees an out-of-range input and refuses to start. Connect the charger and wait up to 10 minutes — some charge controllers apply a trickle pulse first before registering activity. If the charger LED still shows nothing, disconnect it completely, wait 30 seconds, and reconnect to trigger the trickle-start cycle again. Once the BMS recovers, normal charging resumes and the LED will switch to its standard charge indicator.
After fitting the replacement pack, the Truck Aligner II is throwing low-battery warnings on the very first alignment job even though the battery is new and fully charged.
The Aligner II maps battery state against its internal voltage thresholds during the calibration cycle — if you skipped that step after installing the new pack, the unit is still referencing thresholds set for the old degraded cells. Run a full calibration cycle through the instrument menu before the next job. This forces the unit to re-map the voltage curve against the new pack's actual output, and the false low-battery warnings stop after that cycle completes.
