Fits Sibata MP-ΣNⅡ, MP-Σ300NⅡ, MP-Σ500NⅡ, and MP-Σ100HNⅡ survey instruments; replaces OEM part 080860-010.
7.4V, 4400mAh lithium-ion cell delivers sustained voltage under probe initialization and sensor load without early cutoff.
Connector seats flush into the battery slot with a positive locking tab; orientation is keyed to prevent reverse installation.
We ran full discharge cycles on the MP-ΣNⅡ platform; the BMS held voltage stable during continuous logging and powered down cleanly at threshold.
After installing this pack, run a full calibration cycle through the instrument menu before field deployment — the device maps battery state during calibration, and skipping this step causes premature low-battery warnings on the first measurement session.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

SIBATA MP-ΣNⅡ Series — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (080860-010)

This is a 7.4V, 4400mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the SIBATA MP-ΣNⅡ line of portable field measurement instruments. It replaces OEM part 080860-010 and fits the MP-ΣNⅡ, MP-Σ300NⅡ, MP-Σ500NⅡ, and MP-Σ100HNⅡ. At 32.56Wh, it matches the original capacity the instrument expects for accurate power management.

  • MP-ΣNⅡ series compatibility: These models share the same 7.4V power rail, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. One battery pack covers the full variant range without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through probe initialisation and sustained logging draws. The BMS held stable across the sensor power-up spike and did not trip during continuous measurement sessions.
  • Pre-deployment calibration cycle: After installing, run a full calibration cycle through the instrument menu before field deployment. The MP-ΣNⅡ maps battery state during calibration — skipping this step causes premature low-battery warnings on the first measurement session in the field.

BMS cutoff when the MP-ΣNⅡ probe module powers up

Probe initialisation on the MP-ΣNⅡ series draws a short current spike as the sensor module powers its internal circuitry. If the battery's BMS protection threshold is set too conservatively, this spike triggers an overcurrent cutoff before the instrument reaches the measurement screen. This pack's BMS is rated to handle the initialisation transient without interruption. If cutoff still occurs on first use, allow the pack to rest at full charge for 10 minutes before powering on — this lets cell voltage stabilise above 8.2V open-circuit.

Instrument powers on but shuts down during USB data transfer to PC

USB data transfer adds a second sustained draw on top of the active sensor load — together they can pull enough current to trip a marginal or partially depleted pack. This is not a software fault; it is a voltage sag issue. If the instrument cuts out during transfer, charge the battery to full before attempting a data dump. A healthy pack at full charge should hold above 7.0V under combined USB and sensor load throughout the transfer.

Frequently Asked Questions

My MP-ΣNⅡ was in storage for several months and now the new battery won't charge — what happened?

After extended storage, the instrument's original pack can drain below the BMS recovery threshold, and a new pack installed into an instrument that has been sitting can sometimes fail to initialise the charge circuit. Connect the battery to the charger for at least 30 minutes before inserting it into the instrument — this brings cell voltage up to the recovery floor. Once the pack reads above 3.0V per cell (6.0V total), the BMS re-enables charge acceptance and the instrument will recognise it normally.

The MP-ΣNⅡ is showing a fully charged indicator but readings reset or drop mid-logging session — why?

This is a voltage dropout under sustained sensor load, not a capacity issue. During a long logging session, continuous sensor draw pulls cell voltage down enough that the instrument's internal threshold briefly triggers a reset cycle, even though the display still showed high charge. We saw this on the bench when running extended measurement sequences without the calibration cycle completed first. Run the full instrument calibration after installing the battery — this resets the voltage-to-state mapping and eliminates false dropouts during logging.

The battery percentage on the MP-ΣNⅡ display jumps around at reboot — is the pack faulty?

The instrument recalibrates its voltage-threshold indicator each time it boots with a new cell. Until one full charge-discharge cycle is completed, the display reads from a voltage curve built for a worn cell, so the percentage appears inconsistent. This is normal with any new replacement pack. Complete one full discharge to auto-shutoff and a full recharge — after that cycle, the displayed percentage will track accurately against the 7.4V nominal curve.
