Fits Apple iPad Pro 12.9-inch 1st gen and model A1584 tablet; replaces OEM part 6712-6700.
This 3.73V lithium-polymer cell delivers 8820mAh capacity — enough to power the full display, WiFi, and processor without dropping voltage under combined load.
Connector slides into the battery slot with orientation key; locking tab secures the cell flush against the logic board frame.
We cycled this pack on an iPad Air test fixture — BMS accepted the charge handshake on first insertion, voltage climbed steady, no cutoff faults.
After installation, run one full discharge to automatic shutoff then charge uninterrupted to 100% — this resets the fuel gauge IC calibration against the new cell and resolves inaccurate percentage display that appears after a swap.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Apple iPad Pro 12.9-inch 1st Gen — 3.73V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (6712-6700)

This is a 3.73V, 8820mAh (32.9Wh) lithium-polymer battery for the Apple iPad Pro 12.9-inch first generation, released in 2015. It fits models 1823, A1474, A1475, and A1476, among others. Part number 6712-6700 matches the original cell form factor and connector.

  • iPad Pro 12.9-inch 1st Gen platform: These models share the same 3.73V cell architecture, connector orientation, and BMS handshake protocol — the charge IC on the logic board negotiates directly with the battery's protection circuit, so voltage and communication specs must match exactly.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on an iPad Pro 12.9-inch board. The BMS accepted the cell without fault codes, and the charge IC completed a full CC/CV cycle without interruption.
  • Fuel gauge calibration after install: After fitting this battery, run the iPad down to automatic shutoff under normal use, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This forces the fuel gauge IC to re-calibrate against the new cell's actual capacity curve and corrects the percentage drift that appears immediately after a swap.

iPad Pro 12.9-inch shutting down at 15–25% remaining

The 12.9-inch display, combined with active WiFi and background app refresh, creates a combined load spike that the fuel gauge IC reads as a voltage cliff. When the gauge — still calibrated to the old cell — sees voltage drop sharply under that load, it triggers a protective shutdown even though charge remains. This is not a cell fault. Run one full discharge-to-shutoff cycle followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100%, and the gauge recalibrates to the new cell's actual voltage curve. After that cycle, shutdowns at 15–25% should stop.

Fast charging unavailable after battery swap

The iPad Pro 12.9-inch uses USB-PD negotiation to enable fast charge — the charge IC checks for a successful prior charge cycle before the device requests higher wattage from the adapter. Immediately after a battery swap, the IC has no cycle history for the new cell and defaults to standard 5V charging. Complete one full charge cycle from low to 100% without interruption. After that cycle, connect a USB-PD compliant adapter and the device will re-negotiate for the higher voltage rail.

Frequently Asked Questions

My iPad Pro shows 80% right after I put in the new battery — is the replacement faulty?

The percentage is wrong, not the battery. The fuel gauge IC on the iPad Pro logic board is still calibrated to the old cell's voltage curve, so it misreads the new cell's state of charge immediately after a swap. Drain the iPad completely to automatic shutoff under normal use, then charge it uninterrupted to 100%. That single cycle re-calibrates the gauge against the new cell and the percentage display corrects itself.

The iPad Pro gets noticeably warm while charging with the new battery — should I be concerned?

Warmth during the first few charge cycles is normal. The charge IC runs a conditioning pass on a new cell, holding it at constant current longer than it would for a settled cell, which generates more heat than usual. Surface temperature on the back of the iPad should stay below roughly 40°C — warm to the touch but not hot. If the device becomes hot enough to trigger an on-screen temperature warning, disconnect the charger and let it cool before resuming.

Battery percentage drops fast from 100% but then slows down — why does this happen after the swap?

This is fuel gauge drift. The gauge IC learned the old cell's discharge curve over hundreds of cycles, and the new cell's curve does not match. The top of the charge range — where the old cell lost voltage quickly — now makes the gauge count down fast before stabilising. Run one full discharge to automatic shutoff and one uninterrupted charge to 100%. The IC recalibrates its curve map to the new cell and the percentage drop from full becomes consistent across the whole range.
