Fast charging unavailable on the ME170C after battery replacement

The ME170C charge IC negotiates charge rate based on a completed charge handshake with the battery BMS. On a fresh cell, this negotiation has not yet occurred, so the charger defaults to standard rate on the first cycle. After one full accepted charge cycle at standard rate, the IC recognises the cell and fast charge becomes available through supported chargers. If it still does not activate after two full cycles, check that the original Asus charger is in use — third-party adapters often lack the voltage negotiation signal the charge IC expects.

The battery percentage on my ME170C is dropping faster than it should from a full charge — what's wrong?

This is fuel gauge drift caused by the IC reading a new cell through a calibration map built for the degraded original. The percentage is inaccurate, not the capacity. Complete one full discharge-to-shutoff cycle followed by a single uninterrupted charge to 100%. That one cycle resets the gauge reference points and the drop rate will normalise.

My ME170C feels warm on the back while charging after I swapped the battery — should I be concerned?

Mild warmth during the first two or three charge cycles is normal. The charge IC on the ME170C runs a conditioning pass on a new cell, which draws slightly more current than a routine top-up on an aged cell. If the tablet becomes hot to the touch or the warmth persists beyond the third full cycle, check that the connector is fully seated flat against the board — a partially seated connector increases resistance at the contact point and generates heat.
