Fits Huawei MediaPad M1 8.0 and replaces OEM battery HB3080G1EBW or HB3080G1EBC directly.
This 3.8V, 4650mAh Li-Polymer cell matches the original MediaPad M1 8.0 energy capacity for full tablet operation.
Connector slides into the stock slot with standard locking tab — no adapter needed, orientation marked on the pack.
We bench tested this cell in an S8-701w unit; the BMS accepted the pack on first insertion with no fault cycles.
Run one full discharge to automatic shutoff followed by uninterrupted charge to 100% — this recalibrates the fuel gauge IC against the new cell and clears inaccurate percentage display after the swap.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Huawei MediaPad M1 8.0 — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (HB3080G1EBW)

This 3.8V, 4650mAh Li-Polymer battery replaces the OEM cell in the Huawei MediaPad M1 8.0 tablet. It fits the S8-301L, S8-701w, and S8-701u model variants, along with additional MediaPad M1 configurations sharing the same connector and voltage rail. Capacity figure is taken directly from product data — 17.67Wh.

  • MediaPad M1 8.0 series fit: The S8-301L, S8-701w, and S8-701u share the same 3.8V battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. A single cell covers all three variants without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through charge and discharge on the MediaPad M1 platform. The BMS accepted the cell without fault flags, and the charge IC communicated normally at both standard and fast-charge thresholds.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration after swap: After installation, run one full discharge to automatic shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. The fuel gauge IC calibrates against the new cell during this cycle. Skipping it causes inaccurate percentage readings from the first power-on.

MediaPad M1 shutting down at 15–25% remaining after a battery swap

This happens when the fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve. Combined display and Wi-Fi load creates a voltage draw spike that pulls the cell below the BMS cutoff threshold before the reported percentage reaches zero. The tablet interprets this as an empty battery and shuts down even though the gauge reads 15–25%. One full discharge-to-shutoff cycle followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% resets the gauge against the new cell's actual voltage floor.

Fast charging unavailable on the MediaPad M1 after a battery replacement

Huawei's fast-charge protocol requires the charge IC to complete one accepted full cycle before it re-enables higher current delivery to a new cell. If fast charging doesn't appear after the first use, that cycle hasn't completed yet. Plug in using the original Huawei charger and cable, let the tablet reach 100% without interruption, then unplug. Fast-charge negotiation should resume from the next charge session.

Frequently Asked Questions

My MediaPad M1 8.0 shows 80% battery but the screen just went black and won't turn back on — what happened?

The fuel gauge IC is calibrated to the old cell, so the displayed percentage no longer matches the actual voltage in the new battery. Under combined display and Wi-Fi load, the cell voltage drops below the BMS cutoff before the gauge hits zero. The tablet shuts down to protect the cell even though the screen showed charge remaining. Run one full discharge to automatic shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% — this re-anchors the gauge to the new cell's real discharge curve.

The battery percentage on my MediaPad M1 8.0 jumps around after I replaced the battery — goes from 60% straight to 40% without warning. Is the new battery defective?

It isn't defective — the fuel gauge IC is still using the old cell's charge map. The new Li-Polymer cell has a slightly different voltage-to-capacity curve, and until the gauge recalibrates, the reported percentage drifts and skips. Drain the tablet fully until it shuts itself off, then charge it in one uninterrupted session to 100%. After that single cycle, the gauge locks onto the new cell's curve and the percentage display stabilises.

The MediaPad M1 8.0 gets noticeably warm while charging after I swapped the battery — is that normal?

Some warmth is normal during the first few charge cycles on a new cell. The charge IC runs a conditioning pass on an unfamiliar cell, which generates slightly more heat than it does on a fully characterised one. If the tablet is hot to the touch rather than warm, check that the charger output matches Huawei's spec — 5V/2A for standard charging on this model. Warmth that disappears after two or three full cycles is the charge IC settling in, not a fault.
