It fits the S8-301L, S8-701w, and S8-701u model variants, along with additional MediaPad M1 configurations sharing the same connector and voltage rail. MediaPad M1 shutting down at 15–25% remaining after a battery swap

This happens when the fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve. Combined display and Wi-Fi load creates a voltage draw spike that pulls the cell below the BMS cutoff threshold before the reported percentage reaches zero. The tablet interprets this as an empty battery and shuts down even though the gauge reads 15–25%. One full discharge-to-shutoff cycle followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% resets the gauge against the new cell's actual voltage floor.

Fast charging unavailable on the MediaPad M1 after a battery replacement

Huawei's fast-charge protocol requires the charge IC to complete one accepted full cycle before it re-enables higher current delivery to a new cell. If fast charging doesn't appear after the first use, that cycle hasn't completed yet. Plug in using the original Huawei charger and cable, let the tablet reach 100% without interruption, then unplug. Fast-charge negotiation should resume from the next charge session.

The MediaPad M1 8.0 gets noticeably warm while charging after I swapped the battery — is that normal?

Some warmth is normal during the first few charge cycles on a new cell. The charge IC runs a conditioning pass on an unfamiliar cell, which generates slightly more heat than it does on a fully characterised one. If the tablet is hot to the touch rather than warm, check that the charger output matches Huawei's spec — 5V/2A for standard charging on this model. Warmth that disappears after two or three full cycles is the charge IC settling in, not a fault.
