Fits Huawei MediaPad M5 models CMR-AL09, CMR-AL19 and CMR-W09 replacing OEM part HB299418ECW.
This 3.85V 7300mAh lithium-polymer cell delivers the full 28.11Wh output the M5's display and processor require under load.
Connector slides into the battery slot with the flex cable positioned toward the logic board; locking tab seats flush against the right edge.
We bench-tested this cell on a MediaPad M5 through three full charge cycles; the BMS accepted the new pack without fault codes or voltage sag.
After installation, run one complete discharge to automatic shutoff then charge uninterrupted to 100% — this recalibrates the fuel gauge IC against the new cell and eliminates inaccurate percentage display.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Huawei MediaPad M5 — 3.85V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (HB299418ECW)

This is a 3.85V, 7300mAh (28.11Wh) lithium-polymer battery for the Huawei MediaPad M5 and MediaPad M5 10.8, covering CMR-AL09 and CMR-AL19 variants. It replaces OEM part HB299418ECW directly. Fit this when the original cell no longer holds a full charge or the tablet shuts down unexpectedly under load.

  • MediaPad M5 and M5 10.8 compatibility: Both the 8.4-inch and 10.8-inch M5 variants use the same HB299418ECW cell, same connector, and the same charge-management IC handshake. One replacement covers all listed model codes.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the M5 platform. The BMS accepted the charge IC handshake without error flags, and cell voltage held stable across display-on and WiFi-active load states.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration after swap: After fitting, run the tablet down to automatic shutoff — do not force it off — then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the fuel gauge IC against the new cell's actual capacity curve and clears the inaccurate percentage readings that appear after a swap.

Tablet shutting down at 15–25% remaining after battery replacement

This happens because the fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old cell's voltage-to-capacity curve. When the new cell hits a voltage point the IC previously mapped to near-empty, it triggers a shutdown — even though real charge remains. The fix is one full discharge-to-shutoff followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100%. After that cycle, the IC re-anchors its calibration to the new cell, and shutdowns at false percentages stop.

Fast charging not available after fitting the new battery

Huawei's SuperCharge protocol requires a completed charge cycle before the charge controller unlocks higher current delivery on a new cell. Immediately after swap, the tablet may only accept standard 5V input. Plug in the original Huawei charger — third-party adapters often fail USB-PD negotiation on this platform — and allow one full charge cycle to complete. SuperCharge should activate on the next session once the controller has accepted the cell.

Frequently Asked Questions

My MediaPad M5 shows 80% battery but just shuts off without warning — is the new battery faulty?

The battery is not faulty. The fuel gauge IC calibrated itself to the old cell's voltage curve and is triggering shutdown at a voltage point that no longer maps correctly to the new cell's actual capacity. Run the tablet down to automatic shutoff without forcing it off, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. After that single full cycle, the IC re-anchors to the new cell and the premature shutdowns stop.

The battery percentage is jumping around — it reads 60%, then drops to 40% in minutes, then climbs back up. What's causing this?

This is fuel gauge drift — the M5's coulomb counter is reading against a capacity map built for the degraded original cell, so it loses accuracy quickly with a fresh cell that has a different discharge curve. One complete discharge-to-shutoff followed by a full uninterrupted charge recalibrates the IC against the new cell's actual voltage profile. Do not interrupt the charge during this first cycle — let it reach 100% and hold there until the tablet ends the session itself.

Huawei SuperCharge isn't working after I replaced the battery — the tablet is charging slowly on the same charger I always used.

After a cell swap, the charge controller holds the new cell to standard input current until it has completed one accepted charge cycle — this is normal behaviour on the M5 platform, not a defect. Use the original Huawei SuperCharge adapter, not a third-party USB-C charger, because the USB-PD handshake this platform uses is strict and many third-party adapters fall back to 5V/1A. Complete one full charge to 100% with the Huawei adapter and SuperCharge will unlock on the following session.
