Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

LeapFrog LeapPad Platinum / XDi Ultra — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (MLP4063112)
This 3.7V 3200mAh (11.84Wh) Li-Polymer cell replaces the original battery in the LeapFrog LeapPad Platinum Kids Learning tablet, the XDi Ultra, and the LeapPad 31565. It fits the standard Platinum 7" form factor. The cell matches OEM part numbers MLP4063112, 800-10067, and MP5461110.
- LeapPad Platinum and XDi Ultra compatibility: These models share the same 3.7V single-cell Li-Polymer architecture, connector pinout, and BMS handshake logic. The same 112.10 × 62.20 × 4.60mm cell footprint runs across this entire platform revision.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on a LeapPad Platinum unit. The BMS accepted the new cell without error flags, held the charge rail steady under combined display and WiFi load, and reported state of charge without cutoff anomalies.
- Fuel gauge recalibration after swap: After installing this battery, run one full discharge to automatic shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. The LeapPad's fuel gauge IC calibrated against the old cell — this single cycle resets it against the new one and clears the inaccurate percentage readings that appear immediately after a swap.
LeapPad Platinum shutting down at 15–25% remaining
When the display, WiFi radio, and active app load all draw simultaneously, the cell voltage drops sharply at low state of charge. The BMS reads this voltage cliff as a critically low threshold and triggers an emergency cutoff before the percentage counter reaches zero. This is a fuel gauge calibration mismatch, not a fault in the replacement cell. Run one full discharge-to-shutoff cycle followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% — after one complete cycle the fuel gauge recalibrates and the early shutdown stops.
LeapPad percentage dropping faster than expected from 100%
The LeapPad's fuel gauge IC stored capacity data from the old, degraded cell. Against a new 3200mAh cell it reads drain rate incorrectly, causing the percentage to fall faster in the first quarter of charge than it should. This is not a defect in the replacement battery — it is a calibration drift issue. One full discharge to automatic shutoff followed by a continuous charge to 100% forces the fuel gauge to relearn the new cell's capacity curve and corrects the drop rate.

Frequently Asked Questions
The LeapPad Platinum shows 100% as soon as I plug it in, but it dies within minutes of unplugging — is the new battery faulty?
The battery is not faulty. The LeapPad's fuel gauge IC was calibrated to the old, depleted cell, so it reads a full new cell as 100% but has no accurate data on its actual capacity curve. Run the tablet down to automatic shutoff on a full charge, then charge it uninterrupted to 100% without using it. After that single cycle the fuel gauge relearns the new cell and the readings stabilise.
The LeapPad is warm on the back while charging the new battery — should I stop charging?
Mild warmth at the back during charging is normal with a new Li-Polymer cell. The charge IC runs a slightly higher absorption current on a new cell during its first few cycles until the cell's internal resistance settles. If the tablet is too hot to hold comfortably or shows an on-screen warning, disconnect it — but gentle warmth with no warning is expected and clears after the first two or three full charge cycles.
After fitting the replacement battery, the LeapPad won't charge past around 80% — it just sits there.
This is the charge IC entering a hold state because the new cell's voltage curve doesn't yet match the profile the controller expects from the previous cell. Disconnect the charger, power the tablet off completely, then reconnect the charger with the tablet off. This clears the charge controller's state and lets it restart the charge algorithm from the correct voltage reference — the cell should then climb to 100%.
