This happens when the display backlight, processor, and Wi-Fi radio pull current simultaneously — a combined load spike that drops cell voltage below the BMS cutoff threshold before the gauge reads zero. The tablet interprets the voltage sag as a dead battery and shuts down even though charge remains. The La Tab 72 charge IC negotiates charge rate on the first accepted cycle after a new cell is installed. Until that handshake completes, the device may fall back to standard 5V charging. Use the original charger and cable for the first full charge cycle — third-party cables with resistive losses can prevent the protocol negotiation from completing. After one successful full charge, the fast charge option returns at its normal negotiated rate.
