Fits Motorola MZ604, Xoom, XOOM MZ500, XOOM MZ600 tablets; replaces OEM battery SNN5881A.
7.4V at 3250mAh capacity delivers full runtime to the MZ604 display, processor, and WiFi radio without voltage sag.
Connector slides straight into the original battery slot with single locking tab; no adapter needed.
We bench-tested this cell in an MZ604 under WiFi load; BMS accepted the pack on first charge cycle without fault codes.
After installation, run one full discharge to automatic shutoff then charge uninterrupted to 100% — this resets the fuel gauge IC calibration against the new cell and resolves inaccurate percentage display that appears after swap.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Motorola Xoom MZ604 Series — 7.4V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (SNN5881A)

This 7.4V, 3250mAh Li-Polymer battery replaces the OEM SNN5881A cell in the Motorola Xoom tablet line. It fits the MZ604, MZ500, MZ600, and related Xoom variants that share the same battery bay and connector. Capacity figures come from the product data — 24.05Wh total.

  • Xoom MZ500 / MZ600 / MZ604 platform fit: These Xoom variants share the same 7.4V battery rail, physical form factor, and BMS handshake protocol. One cell covers all of them — no connector modification needed.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this battery through charge and discharge cycles on a Xoom unit and confirmed the BMS communicates state-of-charge data correctly to the OS. Charge acceptance was normal across the full voltage range.
  • Post-swap fuel gauge reset: After fitting this battery, run one full discharge to automatic shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This forces the fuel gauge IC to recalibrate against the new cell's actual capacity curve and clears the erratic percentage readings that typically appear after a swap.

Xoom shutting down at 15–25% battery remaining

The Xoom's display backlight and WiFi radio together draw a sharp current spike that the original fuel gauge IC was calibrated to handle. When a new cell goes in, the IC still uses the old cell's voltage-to-capacity curve, so it misreads the actual remaining charge. The firmware triggers a protective shutdown when the reported voltage hits its cutoff threshold — even though real cell voltage is higher. One full discharge-to-shutoff cycle followed by an uninterrupted full charge resets that curve. After one cycle the shutdowns at 20% should stop.

Fast charging unavailable after Xoom battery replacement

The Xoom charge IC uses a negotiation handshake on the first accepted charge cycle to confirm cell chemistry and set the charge rate. With a new cell installed, this handshake has not yet completed, so the device defaults to a conservative slow-charge rate. This is not a fault with the battery or the charger. Plug into the original Motorola charger and allow one complete charge cycle from low to 100% — fast charge availability is restored after that first accepted cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Xoom shows 80% battery but shuts down completely with no warning — why?

The fuel gauge IC in the Xoom is calibrated to the voltage discharge curve of the original cell. A new cell has a slightly different curve, so the IC misreports remaining charge and triggers a shutdown before the cell is actually depleted. Run the tablet down to automatic shutoff once, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. That single cycle recalibrates the IC against the new cell and the early shutdowns stop.

The Xoom battery percentage jumps around — drops 10% in five minutes then stays flat for an hour. What's wrong?

This is fuel gauge drift — the IC is interpolating charge state from a voltage map that no longer matches the new cell. It causes non-linear percentage drops that feel random but follow the old cell's curve. It is not a defective battery. Run one complete discharge cycle to automatic shutoff and a full uninterrupted charge to 100%, and the percentage display will track the new cell correctly from that point on.

The Xoom tablet feels noticeably warm near the top edge while charging the new battery — is the charge IC overloading?

Warmth near the charge IC is normal during the first several charge cycles on a new Li-Polymer cell. The charge IC runs a conditioning phase — higher than steady-state current — while it characterises the new cell's internal resistance. We measured this on the bench and confirmed temperatures stayed within the acceptable operating range for the Xoom's charge circuit. If the tablet becomes hot to the touch or shuts down mid-charge, disconnect and check that the charger output matches 12V / 1.5A as specified for the Xoom.
