Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (SP368487A)

This is a 3.7V, 6100mAh Li-Polymer replacement battery for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9. It fits the GT-P7300, GT-P7310, and GT-P7320 variants. Swap it in when the original cell no longer holds a usable charge or fails to power the tablet past the boot screen.

  • GT-P7300, GT-P7310, GT-P7320 compatibility: All three variants share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and charge IC communication protocol — one cell fits the full range without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the GT-P7300. The BMS held charge termination correctly at 4.2V and low-voltage cutoff triggered cleanly before cell damage thresholds were reached.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration after install: After fitting this battery, run the tablet down to automatic shutoff — do not force-power-off — then charge uninterrupted to 100% without unplugging. This gives the fuel gauge IC a full reference cycle against the new cell and clears the inaccurate percentage readings that appear immediately post-swap.

Tablet shutting down at 15–25% remaining after battery replacement

The Galaxy Tab 8.9 pulls significant current when the display is at full brightness with Wi-Fi active. A new cell whose fuel gauge IC has not been calibrated will report a higher state-of-charge than the actual cell voltage supports under that load. The processor sees a sudden voltage drop below the cutoff threshold and shuts down before the reported percentage reaches zero. One full discharge-to-shutoff cycle followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% corrects the gauge reference and eliminates these premature shutoffs.

Fast charging not available after fitting the SP368487A

The Tab 8.9 charge controller uses a handshake with the battery's protection circuit during the first accepted charge cycle to confirm cell parameters before enabling higher charge rates. If the first charge after installation was interrupted — cable pulled, tablet restarted, or power lost — the handshake completes only partially. Connect the tablet to its original charger, allow one full uninterrupted charge from any charge level to 100%, and fast charge availability will restore at the next session.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 shows 60% battery but shuts off without warning — is the new battery faulty?

The battery is not faulty. The fuel gauge IC was calibrated to the old, degraded cell and its voltage curve no longer matches the new one. Under combined display and Wi-Fi load, the real cell voltage drops faster than the gauge expects, triggering an emergency shutoff. Run the tablet to automatic shutoff once, then charge uninterrupted to 100% — the gauge recalibrates and the shutdowns stop.

The battery percentage on my Galaxy Tab 8.9 jumps around after the swap — it went from 45% to 80% just sitting on the desk.

Erratic percentage jumps are a fuel gauge drift problem, not a cell defect. The charge controller is interpolating state-of-charge from a voltage map built around the old cell's internal resistance profile. The new SP368487A cell has different impedance characteristics, so the IC misfires its estimates. One complete discharge to automatic shutoff followed by a full uninterrupted charge to 100% resets the reference map and stabilises the readings.

Fast charging stopped working after I replaced the battery in my GT-P7310 — it now charges very slowly on the same charger.

The GT-P7310 charge IC requires one full uninterrupted handshake cycle with the new cell before it enables elevated charge current. If the first charge after installation was cut short — by a restart, a cable disconnect, or a power cut — the negotiation did not complete. Plug into the original Samsung charger, leave the tablet undisturbed, and let it charge from its current level all the way to 100% without interruption. Full charge rate returns from that point forward.
