Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Motorola MZ609 / Droid XYBoard 10.1 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (TB41 / SNN5900A)
This is a 3.7V, 3950mAh Li-Polymer replacement battery for the Motorola MZ609, Droid XYBoard 10.1, and Xoom 2 Media Edition tablets. It matches the original TB41 cell format and slots into the same connector and housing. Capacity figures come from product data — 14.62Wh total.
- MZ609 / Droid XYBoard 10.1 / Xoom 2 Media Edition fit: These three tablets share the same 3.7V Li-Polymer cell, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — that is why one battery covers all three. The fuel gauge IC communicates over the same SMBus lines across the platform.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through charge, full discharge, and charge again on a Droid XYBoard 10.1 unit. The BMS accepted the cell without a protection-trip event and the charge IC completed a full CC/CV cycle cleanly.
- Fuel gauge reset after installation: After fitting this battery, run one full discharge to automatic tablet shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This single cycle forces the fuel gauge IC to map its thresholds against the new cell and clears the incorrect percentage readings that almost always appear after a swap.
Motorola MZ609 shutting down at 15–25% remaining
This happens because the display backlight and WiFi radio draw simultaneous current spikes that pull the cell voltage below the BMS cutoff threshold before the fuel gauge reaches zero. An aged or freshly installed cell that has not been calibrated hits this voltage cliff earlier than the percentage counter expects. The fix is a full discharge-to-shutoff cycle followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100%. After that single cycle, the fuel gauge recalibrates and the cutoff aligns more accurately — target a resting cell voltage of around 3.6V before you start the cycle.
Fast charging not available after battery swap on the XYBoard 10.1
The XYBoard's charge IC uses a proprietary negotiation handshake with the charger during the first accepted charge cycle after a new cell is installed. Until that first complete cycle finishes, the tablet may default to a lower charge rate as a precaution. Plug into the original Motorola wall adapter — not a generic USB port — and let the tablet charge from near-zero to 100% without interruption. After that cycle completes, full charge rate resumes on subsequent charges.

Frequently Asked Questions
My MZ609 shows 80% battery but the tablet just shut off — why?
The fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve, so the percentage and the actual cell voltage are out of sync. Under combined display and WiFi load, the cell voltage drops below the BMS cutoff point while the counter still reads a high number. Run one full discharge to automatic shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% — after that cycle the gauge re-maps against the new cell and the shutoff aligns with the displayed percentage.
The battery percentage on my Droid XYBoard 10.1 drops from 100% to 70% in the first few minutes — is the new battery faulty?
Not necessarily — this is fuel gauge drift caused by the IC still using the old cell's calibration data. The gauge overshoots 100% on the first charge because the new cell has a slightly different voltage-to-capacity curve. One full discharge-to-shutoff cycle followed by a complete uninterrupted charge resets the calibration. If the fast drop persists after two full cycles, check the resting cell voltage with a multimeter — it should read between 3.7V and 4.1V after a full charge.
The tablet feels warm while charging after fitting the new battery — should I be concerned?
Mild warmth during charging is normal — the charge IC on a new cell draws slightly higher current in the constant-current phase until the cell's internal resistance stabilises over the first few cycles. If the tablet becomes hot to the touch rather than warm, or if warmth continues after the charge IC switches to the CV (trickle) phase near 100%, stop charging and check that the connector is fully seated. Normal surface temperature during CC-phase charging on this platform sits below 40°C.
