Fits ZTE T98, V9s, P98T tablets; replaces OEM part LI3740T42P5HC66050.
3.7V, 4000mAh lithium-polymer cell delivers stable voltage under combined display and WiFi load.
Connector slides into the internal battery slot with tab locking toward the rear chassis.
We bench-tested this cell in a T98 frame; BMS accepted charge without fault codes on first insertion.
After installation, run one full discharge to automatic shutoff then charge uninterrupted to 100% — this resets the fuel gauge IC calibration and resolves inaccurate percentage display after the swap.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

ZTE T98 / V9s / P98T — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (LI3740T42P5HC66050)

This is a 3.7V, 4000mAh lithium-polymer battery for the ZTE T98, V9s, and P98T tablets. It replaces OEM part number LI3740T42P5HC66050. Fit this battery when the original cell no longer holds a full charge or the tablet shuts down unexpectedly under load.

  • T98, V9s, and P98T compatibility: These three ZTE tablet models share the same 3.7V power rail, physical cell dimensions (126.09 × 59.24 × 4.94mm), and connector pinout. The BMS handshake and charge IC thresholds are identical across the range, so one cell covers all three.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on ZTE tablet hardware. The BMS engaged correctly at both low-voltage cutoff and full-charge termination. No false low-battery triggers were observed during combined display and WiFi load.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration after swap: After installation, run the tablet down to automatic shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without using the device. This resets the fuel gauge IC against the new cell's actual capacity curve and clears the inaccurate percentage readings that appear immediately after a battery swap.

ZTE T98 shutting down at 15–25% remaining

When the display and WiFi radio draw current simultaneously, voltage sags faster than the fuel gauge can track. The charge IC sees the voltage cliff and triggers a protection cutoff before the reported percentage reaches zero. This looks like a dead battery but is actually the BMS responding to a real voltage drop under combined load. After completing one full discharge-to-shutoff and uninterrupted charge cycle, the fuel gauge recalibrates and the early shutdowns stop.

Fast charging unavailable after battery replacement

The ZTE tablet's charge IC uses a negotiation cycle to confirm the connected cell before enabling higher charge rates. On a fresh cell, this negotiation has not yet completed, so the device defaults to standard charge current. Plug in using the original ZTE charger and cable, allow one full charge to 100% without interruption, and fast charging will be available from the next session onwards.

Frequently Asked Questions

My ZTE T98 shows a completely different battery percentage after I replaced the battery — it jumped from 40% to 10% with no warning. Is the new cell faulty?

The new cell is not faulty. The tablet's fuel gauge IC was calibrated against the old cell's voltage curve, so its readings against the new cell are inaccurate from the start. Run the tablet down to automatic shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. That single full cycle recalibrates the fuel gauge against the new cell and percentage display stabilises.

The ZTE T98 feels warm near the charging port while the new battery charges for the first time. Should I stop charging?

Warmth on the first charge is normal. The charge IC applies a conditioning current to the fresh cell while it confirms capacity and sets internal charge thresholds — this generates mild heat at the board level. If the tablet becomes hot to the touch or charge stops before 100%, disconnect and check the cable and charger. Otherwise, let it complete the full charge cycle uninterrupted.

Battery percentage on my ZTE V9s drops noticeably faster between 100% and 80% than it does between 60% and 40%. Is this a problem with the replacement cell?

This is fuel gauge drift, not a cell defect. The IC estimates remaining charge from voltage, and lithium-polymer cells have a steeper voltage curve at the top of charge, making the upper range appear to drain faster. One complete discharge-to-shutoff followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% re-anchors the IC to the correct voltage reference points. After that cycle, the percentage drop should feel consistent across the range.
