Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Acroprint ATR240 / ATR360 — 14.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (58-0114-000)

This is a 14.4V 2000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Acroprint ATR240 and ATR360 employee time clock systems. It replaces OEM part 58-0114-000 and maintains power to the device during mains outages. Without a healthy backup battery, these clocks lose attendance records, employee enrollments, and current time the moment AC power drops.

  • ATR240 and ATR360 compatibility: Both models run the same 14.4V battery rail and use the same connector and BMS handshake. One battery covers both clocks — no modification needed.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge cycles on the ATR240 platform and confirmed the BMS accepted the cell, balanced correctly, and held stable voltage across the backup load.
  • Data export before swap: Export all employee attendance records and enrollment data before cutting power for the swap. The ATR240 stores this data in battery-backed RAM — full power removal wipes it. The OEM service guide confirms this. Do not skip the export step.

Why the ATR240 loses all employee data after a battery swap

The ATR240 holds attendance records and employee enrollments in battery-backed SRAM. This RAM needs a continuous voltage supply — from either AC power or the backup battery — to retain data. When both sources drop to zero simultaneously, the SRAM loses power and all stored data is erased. Swapping the battery without first exporting data or keeping AC connected during the swap is the most common cause of complete data loss on this platform.

Clock showing wrong time after every power outage

The real-time clock (RTC) on the ATR240 draws from the backup battery during any AC interruption. A battery that has lost capacity may hold enough voltage to show a green indicator but still drop below the RTC's minimum operating threshold under even light load. The result is the clock resetting to a default time — typically 12:00 — after each outage. Replace the battery, allow a full charge cycle, then verify the RTC holds correct time through a simulated 30-second power cut by pulling the AC plug and reconnecting.

Frequently Asked Questions

All our employee punch records disappeared after I swapped the battery — is that data gone for good?

Most likely yes, if power was fully cut during the swap. The ATR240 stores attendance records in battery-backed SRAM, and that memory wipes the moment both AC and battery voltage drop to zero simultaneously. Before any future battery replacement, export all attendance data through the ATR240 reporting menu and keep AC power connected right up until the new battery is physically seated. That keeps SRAM voltage live throughout the swap.

The ATR240 says the battery is fine but the clock still resets to 12:00 every time the power goes out — why?

An aging Ni-MH cell can show a normal charge indicator at rest but sag below the RTC's minimum operating voltage the moment it takes load. The real-time clock is the first function to reset when voltage dips too low, even briefly. Replace the battery with a fresh 58-0114-000 cell, run a full charge cycle, then pull AC power for 30 seconds and recheck the displayed time — it should hold the correct time through that test.

After fitting the new battery, the fingerprint sensor stopped enrolling employees — what's wrong?

The fingerprint processor in the ATR240 requires a stable minimum voltage to run its image-capture and matching routines. If the new battery hasn't completed its first full charge cycle, it may not sustain that voltage under the processing load, causing the sensor to fail or freeze mid-enrollment. Leave the clock on AC power for a full charge cycle before attempting any enrollment, then retry. If the sensor still fails after a confirmed full charge, check that the battery connector is fully seated — a partial connection causes intermittent voltage drops under load.
