Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Kronos InTouch 9000 — 11.1V Li-ion Replacement Battery (GS-1907)

This 11.1V, 2600mAh Li-ion battery replaces part number GS-1907 in the Kronos InTouch 9000 time clock system (model 8609000-018). It powers the device during normal operation and maintains backup functions when mains power is interrupted. Voltage and capacity match the original specification exactly.

  • InTouch 9000 and 8609000-018 compatibility: Both model references share the same battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The GS-1907 format factor — 69.80 × 55.40 × 21.00mm — seats correctly in either unit without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the InTouch 9000 platform. The BMS accepted the charge curve cleanly, protection circuits tripped at expected thresholds, and the unit held time without interruption across the test period.
  • Data export before swap: Export all employee attendance records and enrollment data before removing the old battery. The InTouch 9000 stores timekeeping data and biometric enrollments in battery-backed RAM. Full power removal — even briefly — wipes that memory entirely on most firmware versions.

Why the InTouch 9000 loses all employee data after a battery swap

The InTouch 9000 uses battery-backed SRAM to retain employee records, punch data, and shift configurations. Unlike flash-stored settings, SRAM requires continuous voltage to hold its state — drop below the retention threshold and the contents clear immediately. This happens even during a fast swap if the internal capacitors drain before the new battery makes contact. Always export data to the Kronos Workforce Central or Dimensions server before touching the battery.

Fingerprint sensor unresponsive after battery replacement

The optical or capacitive fingerprint module in the InTouch 9000 requires a stable voltage above approximately 10.5V to initialise its processing core. A freshly installed battery shipped at storage charge — typically around 50% — may not provide enough headroom for the sensor to complete its startup sequence. The clock face and keypad may respond normally while the scanner stays dark or returns a continuous "Place Finger" error. Charge the unit fully before re-enrolling any employees or testing the sensor.

Frequently Asked Questions

All our employee punch records are gone after swapping the battery — is there any way to recover them?

Once the InTouch 9000 loses battery power, the SRAM that holds punch records clears immediately — there is no recovery from the device itself. If your site syncs to Kronos Workforce Central or Dimensions, pull the last successful upload log from the server to recover records up to that point. Going forward, trigger a manual sync before any power removal so the server holds the most recent data. Any punches made after the last sync and before the swap are permanently lost.

The clock is keeping the wrong time after a power outage, even though the battery looks fine — why?

The InTouch 9000 uses a separate real-time clock (RTC) cell — distinct from the main backup battery — to maintain accurate time during extended outages. If the RTC cell is depleted, the main GS-1907 battery keeps the system alive but cannot compensate for timekeeping drift. After restoring power, navigate to the device's network time settings and force an NTP sync to pull the correct time from your server. If the clock drifts again after the next outage, the RTC cell itself needs replacement.

After putting in the new battery, the system is asking all employees to re-enroll their fingerprints — what happened?

Biometric enrollment templates on the InTouch 9000 sit in battery-backed RAM alongside attendance data, so they clear under the same conditions as punch records — any full power gap during the swap. Re-enrollment is required because the templates cannot be reconstructed from the device. To avoid this on future swaps, export a full system backup through Kronos Workforce Central before removing the battery, which preserves enrollment data server-side for re-import after the new battery is installed.
