Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Lathem 7000e / 7500e — 8.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (HHR-60TH7A5)

This 8.4V 700mAh Ni-MH battery replaces the OEM HHR-60TH7A5 in Lathem 7000e and 7500e electronic time clocks. It backs up the real-time clock and battery-backed RAM during mains power loss. Without a functional battery, the clock loses time and all stored employee attendance data the moment power drops.

  • 7000e and 7500e compatibility: Both models share the same internal battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS handshake voltage. The 8.4V rail matches what the clock's backup circuit expects — a lower voltage cell will not trigger the backup latch correctly.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through a simulated mains outage on the 7000e. The BMS engaged within seconds, the RTC kept running, and no data loss occurred on the employee record store.
  • Pre-swap data export: Export all employee enrollments and attendance records before removing the old battery. The 7000e stores this data in battery-backed RAM — full power removal erases it. Most firmware versions offer an export function under the system administration menu.

Why the 7000e loses all employee data after a battery swap

The 7000e holds employee enrollments and punch records in volatile RAM, kept alive by this battery. When the old battery dies mid-swap — or is simply removed — that RAM loses power and clears instantly. There is no secondary storage on most firmware revisions. The fix is to export data before any power is cut, not after.

Clock showing wrong time after every power outage

This symptom points to a depleted backup battery that can no longer hold the RTC running through a mains interruption. The real-time clock circuit draws a small but continuous current — a degraded Ni-MH cell drops below the minimum sustain voltage quickly under even that light load. Replace the battery and let it charge for at least 24 hours on mains power before testing. After a confirmed full charge cycle, the RTC should hold time through outages without reset.

Frequently Asked Questions

All my employee punch records disappeared after I swapped the battery — is that data gone for good?

Yes, if the clock lost power completely during the swap, the attendance records stored in battery-backed RAM were erased. The 7000e has no secondary storage to recover from. Going forward, use the system administration menu to export all records and enrollments to a file before touching the battery. That export survives the swap; the RAM does not.

My 7000e keeps resetting to the wrong date and time every time the power flickers — I already replaced the battery.

A freshly installed Ni-MH cell needs a full charge cycle before it can sustain the RTC through an outage. Leave the clock on mains power for 24 hours after fitting the new battery, then test it. If the time still resets after a confirmed full charge, check that the battery connector is fully seated — a partial connection raises internal resistance and the cell voltage sags below the RTC sustain threshold under load.

The fingerprint sensor stopped working right after I put in the new battery — the clock powers on but won't read any fingers.

The fingerprint processor on the 7000e requires a minimum supply voltage to initialise its image sensor. A new Ni-MH battery that hasn't completed its first charge cycle can sit below that threshold and cause the sensor to fail silently at startup. Charge the clock on mains for at least 24 hours, then power-cycle it fully. If the sensor still won't respond, re-enroll one finger as a test — some firmware versions drop the biometric index when RAM loses power, and the sensor reads fine once a valid template exists.
